Creamy Spinach Chicken Salad

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me which brand of canned chicken you used? I bought some seal-packaged chicken and tried it with the spinach dip and the chicken had a funny smell (i was NOT out of date). Neither my husband or I liked it (the chicken).

Any suggestions?

I use Swanson most of the time. If you don't like canned chicken, you can always cook the chicken yourself and chop it up.

Ok GEORGIA girl tell me about the meatloaf. My husband loves meatloaf.

It's a Crockpot Meatloaf and it's sooooo good. Here's the link to the recipe --> http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/smothered-crockpot-meatloaf-71773/

Enjoy!

I use Swansons. They come in 3oz cans which is just the perfect size for a meal for me. Keeping a few in the pantry means I have a meal in seconds at any time.

You could also use leftover chicken. Or if you're buying for the family, you can get one of those pre-cooked chickens they sell in supermarkets and take some from there.

I have a load of boneless, skinless chicken thighs for myself in the freezer as well. I pack them in individual snack bags. The other members of my family prefer breasts, but since banding I find I can't handle it. So when taking chicken out of the freezer for the evening meal, I'll take out breasts for them and a thigh for myself. :smile2:

I bought the different tostito dips you guys talked about.. creamy salsa & the spinach dip. Neither of them look very good when you open it....

I just touched my fingertip to the spinach dip to taste it, and it was eck.. and looks slimy.. do you heat it up first? Does it taste better if you put more in your mouth? lol.

I'm afraid to try it now and waste a can of my chicken :cursing:

LOL. You're probably just going to have to try it. I personally love it, but everyone may not. I don't heat it up either. I like it cold. I love it with chips too, but I'm a sucker for any type of spinach dip...

It didn't have either of those effects on me. :cursing:

Are you a fussy eater Fairy? For many people texture and temperature can be very important. Just try a little and see if you like it. Or maybe get someone else with similar tastes to see what they think of it.

I guess I am a fussy eater. It sounded really good when I read everyone talking about it, so I got it.. but opening the cans really turned me off, it looks like melted congealed nastiness.. I thought maybe you should heat it up, but the container doesn't say anything about it.

I'll try it with a chip when I get home and see if maybe all I tasted was the slime residue from the top.

Give it one more try ... I prefer it cold with the chicken..It is a staple in my cupboard... I think it should be a Lap Band Recipe of the Year ....

To me the roast chicken with the dip is the best, but for another quick and easy option I tried this with the underwood chicken spread (you'll find it by the spam) and it was also delicious. Makes more of a dip consistency, very creamy. One can of chicken spread with 2 nice size spoons of the spinich dip made 3 servings for me of a little less than half a cup each, just the right amount to spread on about 5 or 6 crackers for each serving.

The chicken spread looks rather nasty when you open the can, the chicken is more pulverized and has broth with it so it's kind of a paste, but if you can get past how it looks it really tastes good

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
