Ahhhh....sweet restriction and possible port move

Recommended Posts

I had my sixth fill yesterday. It was hard earned...the doc always has a hard time finding my port and he had to poke me quite a bit to find it. Just when he was going to give up, he got it. He gave me .25cc's and then I drank the barrium...I love seeing on the tv what it feels like in my stomach. We both thought it looked good..but just for good measure I always drink some Water. So, the water gurgled down nicely and I am so happy.

This morning I had three bites of yogurt and I was full. It's such a great feeling. I ate a small piece of banana bread for a mid morning snack and that went down just fine...I feel like I just ate the whole loaf...that's why restriction is so awesome.

Let's hope this restriction level stays for awhile and I don't need to get poked (with a needle, anyway..hee hee)again for a long time.

The doc did say that he should move my port so it's not so hard to get to. Has anyone else gone through the surgery? Can you tell me your experience?

Megan: I had a port revision surgery. IT was a breeze compared to the first surgery. THey use the same incision for the port placement. If he is thinking about moving it to the other side then you might have a second incision on that side. NOt sure how he is going to do it. I had mine cause the port was tilted on it's side and the tubing was almost protruding through the skin. It lies nice and flat now.

PM me and I will give you my home number if you want.

Hi Megan!!!

Congrats on everything - your life seems enveloped by a rosy glow these past few weeks!! ;) I am so happy for you!

My port revision surgery was supposed to be done under a local, but I went under general. Or what seemed like general, but was really twilight?

My port wasn't really moved, just resutured - maybe they moved it slightly, but it stayed basically in the same place. But I imagine the surgery would be similar to a regular move, depending on how far they're going to move it.

Doc used the original port scar to do his stuff. Recovery was much easier than the original placement as far as incision pain, etc. That may not be true if they really move it a good distance...

So I guess my experience probably won't be that helpful to you, but I just felt the need to say "Hi!" anyway... :)

Congrats on the new restriction. You're right, it's a great feeling to be able to eat so little and feel so full.

I also hope that you don't have to have your port moved, but if you do, sounds like it will be a fairly easy procedure.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is the last fill that you will need and won't have to worry about where your port is located.

Megan: How much do you have total in your band?

I am getting a fill today at 4:00! I am so excited. I feel restriction, and TOTALLY full for only about 5 minutes, then I am starving again! I think it is time! I have 1.75 in now. I wonder how much more I need?

Did somebody say port? My mouth is salivating for need of that tight, restricted feeling. But this fill junkie can't a fix without a port so I gotta live vicariously through your fill, Megan! You lucky gal!

Thanks everyone! I was thinking of all of you while I was laying on the table getting poked for the ninth time. The doctor kept thinking he was hurting me and didn't want to continue- I looked at him and said that I know of a few people who have it much harder than me...Donali, Lisa, Penni...you guys all popped into my head and I was strong because I know your stories.

Knowing that you guys have been through the port revision surgery makes me feel a lot better about it if it comes to that.

Kyleigh-

I have had 7.5 cc's injected into my port, but who knows how much is really in there after a year and a half. My band is the Swedish band so it's different than what most people on here have. And the amount of saline differs for EVERYONE. Good luck with your fill!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
