St. Pat's Dinner

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! As I've posted before, I was banded 2/28. After a rough 1st week, last week went very well (drink that water!!!). Tomorrow I go for my check up and I am assuming will be cleared for mushies. So here is my question: any ideas on how I can have some of my family's planned corned beef and cabbage dinner on St. Pat's? I know I can forget about the cabbage, but what do you think, put it thru the food processor, mix with a bit of mashed. I know this whole thing is a bit sick, but truly I was on liquids for 1 week before surgery, plus the 2 after and I am DONE with Soup and shakes!

Thanks!

Mayra

Hi Mayra,

We were banded on the same day! I went today for my postop visit. I'm officially on mushies. I am allowed to blend up normal food now and eat it if I like. It needs to be the consistancy of babyfood though.

You could try doing that for your St. Paddy meal. Keep in mind that different docs have different rules, so check with him or your nutritionist first.

Mushy is like a whole new rebirth! I put some leftover chicken breast, dab of light mayo, and a hard boiled egg in the blender tonight. Voila! The best damn chicken salad I've ever had in MY LIFE!!! Of course, it will probably last me a week at 4oz. a serving.

Good Luck and stay away from the green beer!

Hi from Ireland where, banded or not banded, NOBODY eats corned beef and cabbage! I've never even seen it! I wonder where the idea that it's traditional Irish food came from! We normally go to McDonalds after the parade and have shamrock shakes!!! Funny, but true! Good luck with the pureed cabbage and Happy St Patricks Day!!!

I wouldn't nix the cabbage, I'd just cook em to death, then they'd be plenty mushy and good too. As for the cornbeef, put it through the blender, mush it up, lol.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
