10% co-pay for Hospital charges---how much??

Recommended Posts

I am hoping someone might be able to give me a ball park figure on the charges for the hospital. I have been trying to get an amount from surgeon/hospital/insurance and have been getting the run around. I am just trying to get an idea how much out of pocket I need to plan for. My copay is 10%. My surgery is scheduled for March 25th.

Call the surgeon, then the hospital, the anesthesiologist, cardiologits, etc.

As for a fee schedule.

The price is the same for you, or anyone else. And they already know what the bill will be depending upon the services you receive.

So ask and get the list.

and when the bills come rolling in.... check over them very carefully and dispute ANYTHING that doesn't look right.

When you are in the hospital if they try to give you a Tylenol....refuse it. That will be an extra $200 on your bill.

If they try to give you breathing treatments thru a respratory therapist...refuse it....that will be an extra $600. Do it yourself!

Is it 10% of the hospital bill or is that 10% up until you meet your deductible? If it is until you hit your deductibe limit you could at least plan on the total cost not being more than that - say $1500 (which is what mine is)

Thin4Aisha-

My max out of pocket is $2,000. So I am sure it won't be more than that! Good thing it's bonus time in our household!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
