Ouch about all the staples Shannon!!! I think I only have about 20, I have about 9 or 10 in the bigger incision and 2 or 3 each in the smaller ones. Staples are gross I can't wait to get them out. Good to know you are doing well even though your surgery was more invasive than planned. Congrats!!

Well 20 isn't bad either, you know what i so want my friend to take out my staples other than the doctor, cuz my friend is wayyyyyyyyyy more gentle and knows i will scream like a baby! Let me know how it goes when they take them out...do you know when it will be?

I have no idea, I'm hoping on my follow up appoinment on, er, June 11th I think?? Ha I guess I should double check. If he doesn't do it I'm going to ask him to because they are really itchy and I would like to have to stop changing my bandages after every shower. I wish he had just used glue I don't think my incisions are bigger than anyone elses, I guess every surgeon has their preferences.

Good luck with getting yours our! I have and have had a lot of piercings, (ears, tongue, belly button (like three times lol) and nose) and I have 2 tattoos, ones really big and takes up a lot of my lower back, so I'm pretty good with pain, but I'm still not looking forward to it. Good luck!!!

Ok gals...Sorry to let you know I had no staples! I have steri strips over the glued incisions....One just fell off tonight up by my cleavage...my bra must have rubbed it too much! TMI

Last year I had staples after my hysterectomy and they really do not hurt coming out...if you two are pierced and tatooed I think you can handle it.

Kammi ...glad to hear you and hubby are doing great!

I am doing great also...I really have never napped yet. I got home Thursday and was druggy and laid about then slept really well considering I hadn't slept much since the night before the day before surgery.

I went walking around the store on Friday morning and then just hung out at home...Sat I went out 3 times to places just to walk...it is too hot to walk outside here...

Sunday I was out several hours with a friend even went to restuarant...I am on mushy's so had refried beans...

Same with Monday...drove around with my DH as he had things to deliver and then I window shopped and walked from like 10 - 3...was tired when we got back and just hung out at home...

Today, I went by my school to see everyone...theyare teaching summer school but NOT ME this year...yea....Then went out to lunch with the family...had hummus and some banana.....then bought a pair of shoes...then tonight went to the casino and played slots and walked around...got my free 2 buffets....watched hubby pig out while I had some salmon and sf jello....

Now I ready for bed...so I guess the sooner your body lets you get back to life...the better you are....

What I am NOT doing is playing MOM...lucky for me my kids are older and can take care of themselves and me if needed...

I guess I am just lucky because I bounced back last year after my hyster pretty much the same way...

I have not taken pain meds since Thursday PM...well really early Friday am...I think that has really helped plus I am allowed soft food...have been eating since Sat,

My surgery was Wednesday... 1 week ago tomarrow!

MY port area definitely gets sore every now and then but I am being careful when I get up and I do not try and bend down....

So, that is my story...I am really sorry some of you are so miserable and I wish the best for all of you. I am not writing this to make any one feel bad...I just think those waiting to be banded should hear everyone's experiences..good and bead so they are prepared!

Be well everyone....OH yeah I am down about 7 pounds since my weigh-in at the hospital! MY ticker reflects the when I started the process and preparing for all of this...I worked hard preop...I think it helped me! My blood sugars have been great too! And BP! Yea I am on the road to health!

When they take the staples out, it feels wonderful because it scratches that itch!!! And watch out for those steri-strips, they ate holes in my skin.

Haha I know what you mean, I love changing my bandages just because it feels so good to rip them off.

I didn't have staples either... stitches on the inside and steri strips on the outside that came off within 2-3 days.... I rub coconut oil all over my belly daily and everything is pretty much healed... a few spots don't even have a scar or anything.... I keep bandages on during the day as I teach and don't want anything floating in the air to attach itself to me in any way.... but at night, it's coconut oil and lay in the recliner airing them out and rubbing! I had staples with my c-section almost 6 years ago and it did feel weird to get them out, not hurting, but weird... sorry you guys have to have staples removed - yuck! Hope again that everyone is healing well.

I am so overwhelmed with nutrition information now and I need help actually translating all this into an actual menu. I'm trying to use mypyramid.gov but I can't figure out how to change the daily calorie requirements to what I need. Has anybody else had success with that site or maybe another one that can help me plan meals and menus?

Your banding date was pretty recent. Right now, don't try to make yourself crazy. My instructions were to focus on Protein, eat every 2-3 hours and take my Multivitamin and Calcium twice per day. The Vitamins and calcium will cover whatever you are not getting right now. Once you work up to eating everything, then you can start to fine-tune and balance everything out.....

Good luck!!!

Kammi, did you rub the oil on right away? I still have some scab/open'sih scars? I was afraid to put anything on them yet?

yes, you can rub coconut oil on them as your described them! It is a natural antibiotic, hypo-allergenic, and promotes healing of all kinds.... I was rubbing coconut oil on them 4 days after surgery..... just do it 2-3 times per day if you can.... also eating coconut oil can contribute to the healing as well... work your way up to 3 tablespoons per day... you have to work your way up as it can be cleansing to some people and you may get some stomach aches and loose stools with too much intake initially.... it won't hurt you, just cleansing, but can be uncomfortable.... starting with one tablespoon for 3-4 days then increasing it .... it is truly amazing stuff... don't use it if you are allergic to coconut though.... not too many are, but some may be. Any more questions, let me know!

I am so tired right now. Is anyone else having this problem? I have no energy. I hope it changes when I start eating, today is the first day for non-liquids for me. I am teaching kindergarten summer school and by the time the day is over I feel like I am going to fall asleep on the drive home.

I know each doctor is different but 14 days is a long time to be on liquids. I had two days clear liquid and 5 days not-clear liquid...then progressively more solid for the next two weeks. I'm 3 weeks post op and I'm eating things I could eat before the surgery. I'm sure glad I'm going for my first adjustment on Wednesday.

But in answer to your question, I think you're just going to have to give your body time to heal. And you've got quite an active job too.

Take care...hope to hear great reports from you as you get your strength back!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
