Overfill and coughing???

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if an overfill can cause you to cough? I have been coughing for a couple of months and the doc says I do not have an infection and I am not asthmatic or have allergies...so I was wondering if by band could be causing it? Anyone else experienced coughing???

Thanks

Janey

Depends on what you mean by coughing. My band was causing me to aspirate at night, which was causing me to wake up in coughing fits (from trying to inhale liquid). There were a few days during this that I did cough a lot during the day, which I attributed to irritation from the night before. I've been unfilled now, and the aspiration is gone.

Yes. I fill out a form every time I see my doc and that is one of the questions: Do you cough? It is a symptom of being overfilled. Perhaps your band is pressing a nerve or something (I don't really know) or it's pressure on esophogus or something. Did you tell your band doc or a reg doc? I'd call my band doc and tell them. I've even noticed that when they draw the fill out and measure it before adding a fill, it seems like the band shifts or something an uncomfortable feeling goes away. I'd call and ask them anyway. That sucks to cough all the time!

Yes, yes, and YES! Definitely consider an unfill and don't wait - I just went thru something similar with throat clearing and i waited months - was scared to death i had a slip. thankfully all is ok although i was a week on liquids and maalox and just had a bout last night - i have to take it super easy and i'm unfilled totally so it's hard as heck not to eat. good luck - act quickly - don't wait.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
