Non-Scale Victories!!

Recommended Posts

My first noticed non scale victory could have been really bad!! After washing my hands at work last night, I used a paper towel to dry them and tossed it in the trash. Luckily I glanced down to notice my wedding ring laying in the paper towel. It just slid right off without me noticing! While I am glad that I didn't lose my wedding ring it was a really good feeling that I have lost enough weight where they come off so easily. It used to be so tight I could barely take it off! I guess I will be heading down to get it resized!

Yikes! Good thing you happened to look down and see your ring! Rather than getting it resized right away since you may have to do it again with additional weight loss have you thought about getting one of those little rubbery things (i don't know what they are called exactly) that you put on the inside of your ring and it works like a little spacer? Am I making any sense? haha.

Hello Everyone;

I love this thread!!! I've just been reading as of late, but finally had an NSV, (at least that I've really noticed)!!! I haven't really been able to change sizes yet and that may be because all of my clothes were too tight, but are fitting better. Needed a dress for a formal affair taking place soon and decided to shop in the closet. I was able to wear a dress that I wore three years ago when I'd lost nearly 60 pounds!!!! The funny thing is that I was 30 pounds lighter than I am now and the dress still fits. So yes, I have lost more inches with the band!!! I do love my band!!!

I am so Happy for all of us! here is my non scale victory..before banding my doctor was talking about insulin because we couldn't get my sugar down. Now my medication dose is being cut in half. I beleive i'll be off it completely within a few months! I am almost happier about that victory than I am my weight loss..The fun victory happened at work the other day. I was walking down the hall when someone behind me said. Hey that's not your ass! Well yes it is now!

I first wanted to say congrats to everyone! If it wasn't for everyone on here, I would be lost and am always glad to hear from everyone!!!

My NSV is that I went shopping in Walmart the a week and a half ago and bought a skirt off the "normal" sized rack thinking that if it didn't fit yet it would soon. I didn't even try it on. I went home and thought I would get a feel for how long it would be before I could wear it and it zipped right up! Then I went to wear it to church today and it was almost too big!! That amazes me! WOW! A size 18 getting too big. I never thought I would see that day...

Keep posting--what great motivation this is!:crying:

Phowell, I agree with you!!!

I bought a size 20 Bill Blass designer jeans at an outlet, $15, and was holding them. I tried them on yesterday, and they were loose!!! I wore them anyway because they weren't as loose as the 24's I had been wearing!!!

It's exciting to read everyone's progress. I wanted to add my NSVs to the list

wedding ring is very loose

size 26 jeans are too big

size 3x shirts fit

got into a size 26 Wal-Mart capris (those run small)

Dressing for Easter was a little frustrating. The 3X skirt was too big, but the 2X was too small. I bought the 3X and made due for Sunday, but I want to have it alerted.

Another NSV - I've only thrown up once.

It's the little things in life that I'm enjoying.

I wanted to add one more to my list. I bought a ring at a jewelry party my sister was having in November and thought that I could wear it on my middle finger or thumb if it got too big. Well, the other day I was carrying groceries in and set them down. I heard a *tink* and looked down and there was my ring hooked to the handle on the bag. I didn't even notice that it had come off and it was on my thumb!!! I don't wear it anymore :sneaky:

I love reading everyone's NSVs....it has changed my intense focus on my weight to everything that is changing for me.

:)

Wedding ring is too big and spins around

hair is longer and I am actually fixing it (Before I just put it in a ponytail)

Wearing makeup for the first time in............hum.can't remember.

Size 24 to size 18, almost 16.

Off 8 of my medications including 4 diabetic ones

A1c is down from 13.9 (high) to 6.2 (normal)

Normal Blood sugar readings for the past 6 weeks

FEELING BETTER takes the cake.

Having more energy

Getting off the couch and outside.

There are more and more all the time.

Thanks for the re-focusing.

Love this thread! My top NSV has already been mentioned ... crossing my legs. Whooo hoooo!

Other favs:

  • Looking in the mirror ... I don't hate it now. I am proud of myself! My cheeks no longer swallow my eyes when I smile! I know that person in the mirror!
  • Posing for pictures with my daughter!!
  • Officially getting rid of all of my shorts last night except for three (too big size) 18s. Gotta keep something to wear, right? I am in size 16 pants AND XL shirts!! I am almost normal ... lol.
  • I work in an IT department with mostly men so I haven't gotten a lot of 'recognition' in the workplace. However, today I got my first, ever so gentle and awkward ... "You're changing ... is that ok to say? It looks good on you." I am going to a scrapbooking retreat this weekend with friends I haven't seen in six months. I am looking forward to reactions!

My absolute favorite is that I am now more focused on everything. As odd as it sounds, I think more clearly than I have in years! Is that crazy?

:) Has anyone else had that 'clear' feeling?

I'm officially shopping in the Misses section - broke down and cried in the dressing room. Called my Mom from the mall parking lot. She lives in Florida and I'll see her on my vacation next week. My sibs live near by and have only seen gradual weight loss. Mom will be the first to see my 38 pounds gone since surgery. Can't wait :)

OMG!! 38lbs since surgery!!! YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!

I was able to surprise my mom a couple of weekends ago, she last saw me when I was 4 days post-op and swollen and moving slow, it was such a good feeling for her to see me 20+lbs lighter and back on my feet! Hope you have an amazing trip!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
