Best wishes to you! I am sorry about your son. I can't even imagine how hard that must be.

Good thing you like to exercise! I am glad I had the exercise habit long before I got the band. It didn't pay off though, until I got my band.

My Dr. won't fill until at least 90 days post-op. Needless to say - I haven't lost anything in the last 2 months!!! I'm getting very discouraged. No restriction at all and I eat everything in sight! I wake up with hunger pangs and my cravings are as bad as ever. I am a carb addict and of course that's what I'm eating most. Due for a fill in two weeks - can't wait!

You are a beatiful person - good luck on your surgery... I am so very sorry about your son - I totally understand - the problems with my son aren't as difficult as yours - but I feel your pain... Hugs to you ....

Lynne---I know it is easier said than done, but try to approach each "snack attack" individually---find several things that you can snack on that are high Protein, and no to low carb---and stock up. Divide up some raw almonds for instance into 1/4 cup snack bags, and when the urge to snack hits, go for one of your healthy Snacks. It might not ALWAYS work--but every one you avoid is a step in the right direction!

If you are eating the SF/FF puddings, you can make your own and add extra Protein powder, which sometimes helps with the hunger--if it is stomach hunger as opposed to head hunger.

Since you have no real restriction yet, fresh veggies are always an option.

When I have fallen off the band wagon, and have to drag myself back on, I have to purge the house of the things that seem to call to me--and do as I said, stock up on lots of healthy options, so I am not left to my own devices of looking around through the cupboards---or I'll find something I don't really need!!

I'm not saying your first fill will take you to a restrictive point, but it will be a start----and before long the band will actually be helping in controlling the hunger, as well as portions. I know it is hard til then though!!

Hang tough!!

Kat

Yep I like your name too  - Because of that (our names being the same)and your story - Just wanted to give you a little shout out and welcome you to LBT...

Good luck on your journey - with your mindset you should do just fine - imho it really is our brains that are the problems not our stomachs and the band is a great tool to help win the battle of the buldge...

Blessings....

I don't know how I did it but I was able to paste my ticker on another thread following your directions. Do I have to transfer it to every entry I make in the threads or is it supposed to follow my entries?

Anyway, I am still in bandster hell. I have had 2 fills and still no restrictions. I was disappointed to hear on the other site that it can take 9 or more months to get restriciton. How do I hang in there. The food keeps calling my name.

Talk to you soon and thanks again.

Are you saying you are 9 months out and only had 1 fill - I am 8 monts out - 3 fills and I have restriction - am at my sweet spot - you just keep going back to get fills until you hit your sweet spot - for some it's no fills - for some 1 or 3 - some 8 - it all depends on you and how agreesive your doctor is on his fills.

Ok, put me down for eight fills and four months post-op and still waiting for restriction. I have approx 7.75 cc's in my 10 cc band!

I can eat apples with the skin, salad, beef, grilled chicken, shrimp, pork and while I don't eat white bread, I can eat a piece of whole wheat bread untoasted with Peanut Butter.

Now don't get me wrong, I am happy I can eat these foods, they are healthy, but you would think a bandster portion of chicken or fish would keep me full for several hours, but no, not yet!

Only for a few days after a fill will I have a meal or two that might kep me full for four hours and then a day later, gone.

I guess I need over 8cc's in my band before I get to my sweet spot. Next appt May 3rd, by then I'll be past the 5 month post op mark.

Thankfully, my band does offer some willpower to resist eating sooner, but I find I am clock watching all the time until the next meal time. And my Dr. allows me to come in as often as every two weeks, so that's been a help.

There's been times, I've waited longer than the two weeks because of my own schedule. That includes this month, I'd go back for another fill sooner, but I am going out of the country, if the next fill end ups too tight, I might have a problem while I'm away.

I'll use my willpower and wait until I get back.

Good luck with your vacation. I know it's hard. I can eat the same as you. It's been 2 months for me and 2 fills and no sweet spot yet. All we can do is try to "diet" (can you believe this) until we reach restriction. The main thing is not to gain any weight back. Hang in there.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
