I too was banded the 25th, I don't have alot of port site pain, sore is all, but this gas is HORRENDOUS! I have been passing gas and belching like nobodys business, I chew gas-x lots and lots, I get nauseaus and mouth starts watering like I am going to puke then a HUGE painful belch, that happens about 3x's a day, I want this gas to LEAVE already, otherwise feeling good, walking makes gas pains worse for me, but I am up to 20 min, I was Clear Liquids 2 days now 3 pro shakes and 2 -1/4c meals (yougurt, sf pudding, broth, applesause or sf jello) I stay on this until the 3rd the 2 shakes 3 meals..I am happy I did this but gas pain suxs!

I was also banded on 2/25. My surgery went well. I came home on tuesday, took my pain meds and went to bed and woke up 2 times in the night. I took my meds went back to bed. In the morning I was having terrible dry heaves( I had had one bout of them on the drive home) and nausea. I called my Doctor and was told to stop taking my pain medication and start taking liquid tylenol. And take a anti nausea medication. Sure enough, within a few hours, no more dry heaves and nausea. None since...

Yesterday I was in quite alot of pain, but not alotof gas pains. Today I feel a whole lot better except for a back ache that started along with some minor gas pains. I took a gas-x and got out the heating pad.

I'm hoping tomorrow I will feel even better! I'm really only eating about 1/4 -1/2 cups of chicken broth (better than boulion)

maybe 3 baby spoons total of SF Jello

crystal lite

Water

I had started to have alot of grumbling going on in my tummy...and alot of burping....I really hope the burping stops...How will I ever eat in front of people...LOL

Blessings,

Brenda

I was banded Friday as well. I had tomatoe Soup on Sunday. Every doc is different, mine says I told me yesterday (Thursday) that I could start mushies, mashed pot, cream of wheat etc. I actually had a little cream of wheat on Wed night and was FINE. I think as long as you go SLOW and use your best judgement you will be fine. I have lost 4 lbs! have you lost anything yet?

I don;t get a fill for 3 weeks so since I can eat food again I am on a mission to count calories so that I continue to loose until I get some restriction help. I am staying at about 1000 cal a day. I get hungry during the day but at night I am ok, I just want to eat out of habit. I do love my wine though and am totally missing that!

Hi, I was banded yesterday, the 28th. I'm very glad it's done, I feel a bit sore (like I did too many setups), but other than that I'm doing good. I tried to eat some grits today and was amazed at how little I ate before I was full.

I was banded on 02/27/08 and I'm feeling really great. Most of the gas is gone. I'm really nervous about dehydration and getting sick if I drink to much at one time so I take really small sips. Does any one have any advice on this.

I was banded on Feb 27th, and was slated for the first operation of the morning, so I had to be at the hospital at 5:30. It was definitely a surreal feeling that continues on to this day. Like the majority of you I have had gas issues, but I will try the heating pad, seeing so many results by fellow band members. I have one situation that I have not come across yet on this site. I have the feeling that I have to burp, but nothing happens except I feel an uneasiness in my upper stomach. Has anyone else felt this way? I am counting on this feeling to pass. I am glad to find this website and best wishes to all!!!

I drink the K20 Water, it is good, I think. I like it much better than the propel Vitamin Water. I know it is a different type of drink, but it goes down well and increases the Protein count.

To those with gas issues, it does get better, I am 2 weeks post-op today...much better!

I, too, get the uneasy have-to-burp feeling. Moving around helps me with this and will sometimes work up a nice burp.

I have just started having back pain just below my bra line. Heating pad helps. But I am wondering, is it because of the surgery scrambling my insides or my horrible posture due to discomfort? I try to stand and sit up straight....

Now, I just wish I could get to sleep (not surgery related!)

Hi all,

I just got my band on the 25th. I started back at work today...think it might have been too early..

I feel pretty light headed and vision blurry. Anyone else banded on the 25th?

My soreness is mostly gone, and I don't have too much gas. However, I feel pretty hungry but I am drinking just liquids/juices and Water. My nutritionist told me to dring the K20 Protein water. Anyone had any luck with that?

Take care and best of luck!:w00t:

I also was banded on the 25th. I am impressed that you went back to work yesterday. I was feeling pretty good actually until yesterday when I also kept getting really lightheaded.... A few times when I got up too fast I actually thought I might black out. That would have been awful at work. I attribute it to basically not eating for the past 10 days. I think drinking something like K20 or Propel are good since they have electrolytes. Also, maybe try some broth. The sodium may help a little. That's what I did last night and I seemed a little better then. Good Luck and don't push yourself too hard!!

I was banded 02/26 and ave the same feeling. Feel like I need to burp and want to force it out but feel like if I force it out I'll vomit. Had it less today than other days so I'm hoping that as the gas goes, the feeling will too.

Leah, MommaKitty, everyone!

How are you all doing, going into our 2nd week? I'm doing well but I still have shoulder pain. I also had a hiatal hernia repair and heard that is more common for those of us that have to have that issue. Anyway, out of curiosity, what is your post-op diet? I was on clears only for 5 days, then on day 6 was able to add V-8 and Protein Shakes with Water only. It really helped. On day 11, I can add creamy Soups, yogurt, apple or pear sauce, skim milk, soy products and pudding. Woo Hoo! Can't wait until Tuesday. Days 21-30 I can have "Blenderized and Soft foods". Basically, if it will fit thru a straw, I can chow on it.....within reason. I've lot 10 lbs since surgery. Where are all of you at?

I hope all is well.

Michelle O.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
