My sister had a Down Syndrome baby

Nolan is his name and he is just the sweetest little thing.

It came as a big shock to his mom and dad and everyone else. He was born Feb

15th and is still in the NICU (level 3) waiting for surgery for his heart. A heart murmor was detected and a hole in his heart has not closed up so an operation is most likely.

Mom is over the Down Syndrome for now but the babys heart is still a major problem according to his Doctors. Time will tell they keep saying but he needs to gain weight before he can have the operation. His feeding with the bottle was good but now he fights it-so very sad I guess DS babies have sucking problems.

If anyone has any good advice I welcome your reply.

Peace!

Oh how precious!!! Nolan is in my thoughts and prayers! So are you and your family. Take Care

Pictures of children, babies, and animals always make me melt. This one is no exception. He is an angel. You and your family are truly blessed.

Two of my cousins have kids with Down Syndrome. One is 32 now--going on 12--and a typical adolescent. He lives in a group home and has a job-coached job.

The other is about eight years old. He is also autistic. And he has a 13-year-old brother who is in college. Talk about the cloudy corner of the gene pool...we are a strange lot.

I LOVE the name Nolan..it is such a strong name! Your little nephew is going through a rough time right now...and he is in my prayers and throughts. My cousin has a son with Down's Syndrome and he also had to have an operation early on. He is doing wonderfully now...and is such a sweet, precious little boy!

Please let Nolan know that this LBT bandster wishes him a safe and successful operation, and a speedy recovery! Congrats to your family on the birth of such a beautiful baby!

AAAWWWWW!!! He is precious!!!! My sister has a little boy that has Williams Syndrome. He is ALWAYS happy and never in a bad mood. Makes me jealous--he has the best attitude!!

Chicago boy

He is a cutie. My son is 3 1/2 now and when he was born went directly to the neo natual unit. He swallowed the meconium and was put on oxygen till he was 3 weeks.

We took him home after 4 days but each child is different and even though your sister has a different road to take than most people the Lord will be by her side as well as the whole families. My son had trouble latching on to the nipples we went and bought every one out there that would be my suggestion is try them all one is bound to work. We thought my son had downs he various test done but nothing showed up. They say he could have a touch if that is at all possible but we do not love him any less. He has been getting physical as well a speech Therapy since he was 6 months. Now he is enrolled in a early intervention program with the school and he attends twice a week. I see so many downs children out there that they live a good life and are no different in my eyes than other child.

I heard once that the Lord only gives the special children to Special parents.

Believe me I know I am not one of them but he brings so much joy to us that I would not trade him for anything in this world.

Will keep you all in my Prayers

What a Beautiful Beautiful little boy. I have worked with a lot of DS children and I can tell you they are the most loveable children I have ever worked with, and I have been in the preschool business for 22 years.

Update...My nephiew Nolan is home with his mom & dad as of this past Friday. Thank you to everyone who was thinking of him. He is just the greatest little baby I ever met. Mom is having a difficult time accepting what has happened and is somewhat depressed but she is going to pull thru some how. Keep mom in your thought as she is now caring for this little baby who may still need heart surgery to repair the hole. Time will tell but thats all for now.

Peace!

Continued prayers and (((hugs))) to you and your family. Your mother must be pretty special to be taking care of this little guy. I know they will have a very special life-long relationship.

Yes, thank you for the update. post another pic when you can. Babies change so much the first months, I'd love to see Nolans sweet little face again...so cute!! Thanks Chicagoboy, continued prayers for your family

CB,

Be sure to keep an eye on Mom, she's not only dealing with the stress of a new baby, but the post partum blues as well. He's a beautiful baby, best of luck to him and his family.
