Bandster hell I think they call it.

I went in for my two month follow up and the doc said, well you lost eight pounds lets not fill you yet. Well the past week I can eat anything in pretty large quantites...sucks...I am so frustrated and I don't go back to see the doc for another week and a half.....

Hi - I feel your frustration- however, I have had a second fill and can still eat anything:( I don't think I was so focused on food as I am after having been banded.... I don't get it!!

Butting in from another thread, but right now you NEED to be focused on food. I went to a support group meeting last night and the nutritionist that facilitates the meeting said that for the first 6 months (at least) your life needs to be about food: choosing the right foods and the right portions. This is the time where we need to learn the good habits and replace our old ones. This is not an overnight process. It takes a good 6 months to learn something and turn it into a habit. You are barely 2 months out (if you even are 2 months out) so your brain is still fighting learning something new. I know how frustrating it can be to be able to eat everything, but even with this wonderful tool, you still need to have will power. I am 6.5 months out and even today I have to choose to make the right food choices and stop eating when I am no longer hungry. I rarely stop when I am full now...just when I am no longer hungry.

Hang in there. In time the choices and adjustments will get easier.

Thank you for the words of encouragment...I am really having a harder time than I thought with the adjustment of having being banded. I am really happy I did it, but I guess I have a lot of learning to do.

I think our problem is we want to lose this weight so bad. I know you have heard this before, but we didn't gain this weight overnight nor are we going to lose it overnight.

8 pds in a month is great and you should be proud of that accomplishment.

the first month we lose weight rather quick and get disappointed when we lose only 5 or 10 pds the second month. Like Salsa said its all about making the right choices. yes its hard and if you blow it one day, start fresh the next day.

to this day I feel guilty about my potions, but I can tell you, I'm eating 1/4 of what I use to eat probably less. I guess I was expecting the worse, living on a cup of food or less per meal, I know I don't want to live like that.

my goal is to be weigh under 200 by the end of the year. I'm not asking for 150, 160 or even 170. maybe 180/190. that will be a miracle.

have faith, keep up the good work and you will reach your goal

I remember the bandster frustration you are feeling. I think watching your food portion is VERY important, but I think it is a three pronged effort. food, Water, and exercise. I get 120+ ounces of Water a day, and yes I am floating, but I am also losing a consistent 3 pounds a week. Also, I exercise regulary 5 times a week. I was sitting in the waiting room before my support group and in the group I was sitting in, I was the last banded and had lost the most weight. When I asked if everyone was exercising, I was the only one. There were all sorts of excuses: like the trainer hadn't come to her house yet, I work full time (so do I), etc. It was a light bulb for me that this exercise was a really important part of the key. So, since starting the water and exercising I have dropped a total of 12 pounds. My surgery was 12/20/07 and I have lost 37 pounds.

Good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
