Hi everyone,

My surgery is now going to be next Monday dec 21 instead of Jan. Found out my insurance company will be changing as of Jan 1 at work so we got the surgery date switched before the change just in case. Getting nervous but also very excited. Went in yesterday for final weigh in. They didnt mention anything about getting weighed in the day of surgery..ugh i hope not . I have to do the south beach phase one this week and feel like it makes me gain weight .

I hope the first month after surgery isnt as hard as it seems with the food limitations.

Talk to you soon..

Maria

It will be ok, did I give you details of the jump start diet? 2 days and you will be good, and cleaned out too. Seriously, My Dr was a hard ass and heard all kind of scary stories, we have a special relationship... not that special lol, but I confronted him because I went to SC and got back the night before surgery. He told me it was ok to gain a couple lbs, he just didn't want me to over do it. But if you gain a bunch, how are you going to make your band work? That was how it was put to me. You will be ok.. Good thoughts your way!

Contrats on the new date! Happy New Year... what a great way to start it!

I feel your pain with the South Beach, that never worked for me either

Vicki, that is ok... I gained 5lbs in a month:crying:. You know ... 2 1/2 years out, I don't understand how fills still work so great, unless it is a huge reality check. I got my fill last Thurs, and have lost 10lbs. I am at an all time low of 181.5 ... I guess I'm focusing on Protein and nothing else. I am not sure

Well, I hope you al have a great day! I'm off to get ready for work, have to leave in 30 and not even close to ready

I could see if you gained 10lbs but 4 doesnt seem to damaging. What was the reason they gave you that you couldnt gain any weight? Are you higher risk? Just trying to understand.

If this makes you feel any better a lady at my work went in the morning of surgery and was canceled due to a rash so they sent her home. Im sure its devestating b/c you get all ready physically and mentally. Once again Im sorry you had to go through this.

His reasoning was that I was moving in the wrong direction weight wise. Nothing I can do now except stay on a clean track and revisit this in a couple of weeks or months...who knows.

Vicki - he wasn't really nasty but it's always hard to discuss your wrong-doings kwim? I am tempted to call hoffman but am afraid that once I do that I will be labeled a problem in the practice and then no one will operate on me! So depressed....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
