HeatherLee, where are you from? We will try to make it easy for everyone to be there. Do you have a local doc for aftercare or emergencies? ~Mandy

Hi I"m waiting on my band approval and would LOVE to get to know some people in my area. I'll drive ANYWHERE! I'm one of those people that love the support of other people. I"m up in Lindenhurst/Gurnee Mills area. I'm trying to decide on where to get my band done. I"m went to a seminar SAturday at Day One Health with Dr. Galvani, wasn't throughly impressed, and have been reading on here about Dr. Denham in HP or Evanston, which is much closer for me. SO where do you all meet and when?

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Galvani, it is all posted here. Make sure you search his name, there were a few of us that were not treated well there.

There is a Panera right off I-355 and boughton road (bolingbrook), is that ok for everyone? Or is there somewhere else that would be more centrally located?

When are you all meeting for lunch?

Hey Sonia, I have a ? about the breast cancer walks. My mom is a survivor and I would like to make the 3 day my goal for next year. I think I may be too late to start really training for this year. I have wanted to do this for YEARS, but have always thought I was too heavy and out of shape for it. I see that you walk frequently. How diffucult was your first one? I guess I just am lacking the confidence to take the plunge. And how do I go about getting it all together?

Thanks,

Gina

I'll travel where ever on Saturday. i got a GPS for my birthday and i LLOVVEE it!!

Gina i do the Avon Walk which is only 2 days. Personally i think its easier than the 3 day but i am just speculating since i have never done the komen. The 3 day is in August Chicago humidity and you're walking 20 miles a day. plus raising 400 bucks more. ouchers!

My first AWBC was in 2005 and i trained for CRAP! I walked/hobbled Saturday til a little before the 9 mile marker. was literaly the last walker on the trail. Then i hopped on the sweep van to lunch and then took the van to the wellness village. I stayed at my moms cuz so not a camper. The next morning I could barely walk but went back. I think i made 3 miles on Sunday, mostly in tears cuz my legs and ankle wanted zip to do with me! But at no point did i feel like i didnt belong or was alone. the people and the volunteers at the AWBC are amazing. each yr gets better. My second year we just walked 10 miles on Saturday andn couldnt get up on Sunday. Last year we made i both days and walked a bit over 22 miles for the weekend. This year i am training to do all 39 miles... we'll see!

I think next year or the year after i would like to do the Komen 3 day - just not in Chicago in August! maybe somewhere in the fall....

Hi, I am from Romeoville Il was wondering if anyone was from around this area. I hoping to find someone to tallk to, I am becoming a little depressed about my banding. At first everything was just GREAT! I was banded on Oct/28/06. I was doing just great till July, I had lost 62lbs but then in August I went in for my fill under xray and the Doctor found that my port was flipped. He stuck me several times before he found it and said he was able to get the saline in. Ever since then I have lost no more weight and still have had about 4 more fills. I recently went back to him just this past Friday and all he said is that this is all I may wind up loosing. I asked him if the band being flipped could have anything to do with me not losing and he said no. I still have about 45lbs more pounds to loose and I really don't have the much restriction. It seems like after I get the fills the restriction only last for a couple of weeks. Thanks for listening to me, I didn't know who eles to talk to on this site I am kind of knew at all of this. I also do not know how or where to post. Good Luck to all of you on your challenge and your walk.

I'm in Romeoville too, if you want to get a coffee or lunch let me know.

Oh and it sounds like you might have a leak, did they check to make sure all the saline was still there? ~Mandy

Hi Nana. I'm in Aurora but fairly close to Romeoville. Looks like we were banded around the same time. Let me know if you want to get together for coffee or lunch.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
