Vera,

Did the kink cause the hole? I'm very happy for you that they found the problem and were able to fix it. I'm assuming that they didn't give you the option of replacing your band with the Inamed band? After what you have gone through, I had my doc in Mexico check my band and tubing under flouro to check for kinks and leaks, I think I'm becoming a bit paranoid

Again, glad you're home and that everything went so well. Take it easy!

Yes, the kink caused the hole.

The only reason you should become paranoid is if the doc can't get any previous fill(saline) out. If it's hard to get saline in or out, be concerned. But it's good to have your band checked under flouro at least once a year.

My band looked prefect. No reason to change my band at all.

Vera,

Good advice. I'll remember that during my next fill. I'm also glad to hear that your band was in perfect shape. Good news for you all the way around. I'm sure you're relieved to have everything back in working order.

Thanks for the updates, I know it hasn't been easy for you, but by you posting what you went through gave all of us things to look out for. In otherwords, you have probably helped a lot of us just by sharing with us what you're gone through.

Thanks!!

Wow Vera that was definately an eye opener. I think all of my 1 fill is gone too, I don't even feel banded, boohooo. I go for my 2nd fill on Tuesday. My doc doesn't use flouro so I'm always thinking with my luck that juice is going somewhere other than the port/tube. OMG awake during the entire procedure, what a woman!

Okay, ANOTHER question (this is very interesting!) Is that how long the tubing is from your band to your port? Or is that just a section of it? There is nothing to reference the size in the pic, just wondering how long is that piece of tubing?

Glad your'e home and getting better!

Hi Vera,

I'm sure glad you got that all taken care of and it was such a simple fix. Thanks for keeping us posted. For some reason the fill doctor I use in Oregon doesn't believe in doing a yearly thorough exam with flouro. He says that slippage and erosion will manifest thier own symptoms and insurance won't cover edoscopy or anything. He'll only do it when he thinks there is a problem. HMMM... I think he is a wonderful doctor in all other areas. I also am a little perplexed that he doesn't use barium when he does flouro fills. I have heard other fill doctors in Oregon don't use the barium for flouro fills as well. Anyway glad your on the mend girl, Teresa

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
