Hi everyone. I am very discouraged right now. I becan the process in May 07 and have not yet been approved by insurance. I am 150 lbs overweight, diabetic, high BP, high cholesterol, acid reflux, the whole bit! I am feeling like a failure and need some encouragement. I rely on God and think maybe this surgery is not supposed to happen afterall. I just can't believe that God would want me to feel or look like this. He made my body and I have ruined it!

I am so sorry you have not been approved by the insurance. I know I just was approved last week and I have been going through the steps since May of 07. My insurance required a 6 month physician followed diet before they will approve it. So I started that in June and finished on Dec. 22nd. I also have sleep apnea and just found out that my surgery is going to be on Feb. 11th. So just keep praying and god will let it happen. Good luck.

Yep, when you try to get someone else to pay for it....the redtape and waiting game begin!

But you have the right to have your insurance pay or cover this. So don't give up.

I didn't have that problem, I don't have insurance. After deciding on the band, I interviewed a few docs, chose one and had the surgery within a month.

Hi

I am from Michigan also. You and I sound a lot a like. I got tired of all the hoops that insurance cos. and doctors put me thru that I ended up going to Mexico as a self pay. I'm now trying to get insurance to cover it and am still waiting. Where in Mi are you from? I get my fills in Hillsdale and live in SW Livingston county.

I am from Hudson and my surgeon is in Hillsdale. THe waiting is hard, but the weight loss on my own is harder!! I haven't lost any weight and have actually gained over the holidays. If I do get approved, they will probably make me wait since I haven't lost any in the 6+ months I've been waiting!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
