AND another thing that irks me....

Recommended Posts

This goes for both online and voice mail messages...

I keep reading new threads on another forum where one paragraph is a page long, and the subject title is Help.

Sheesh get to the point already. I hang up on long voice mails without listening to them, and I pass right over these posts as well. Give me a clue up front to what the problem is, and perhaps I can wade through the long story to understand and maybe have a tip or so.

<sigh>

What bugs me is when there isn't a single punctuation mark anywhere in the paragraph. If a single paragraph is more than, say, three or four inches long on my screen and lacks punctuation, I save my head and eyes and exit the page.

I guess it could be worse and we'd have to listen to them in person.

I made a post about this awhile back and it got shut down. I call them

walls of text.

People should realize that nobody is going to read something that takes up the entire screen with no breaks anywhere. It's just too hard to read.

I come here to relax, inform, become more informed, and not struggle to read and get a headache!

I've been wondering why some posts look like titles to a book With Every Single Word Capitalized. I'm guessing there's some setting that makes it that way, other than the person making the effort to shift at the beginning of each word. I find that particularly hard to read.

Oh, I feel the pain. I am a moderator on a gaming board and I have to deal with that stuff all the time. It is not so bad now, sadly I am getting used to it, because as a moderator I "have" to read every word, every post.

What gets me is sense/since/, there/their, to/too. That isn't all but that is part of it. I personally get there and their mixed up, but I can generally catch it before I hit submit but when people use trader instead of traitor and stuff like that. I want to pull my hair out. How hard is it to type "Oh really" but nooooo orly is the way they do it. IDK ... I don't know, not hard really. I HATE shortened words. Granted when I text my hubby I will on occasion shorten a word or two. But the WHOLE TEXT? I get that from a girlfriend of mine, I want to smack her when I see her for that.

Wow, I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to message boards ... I will stop now.

One more thing though, caps, punctuation, and spelling ... all in one post. Someone please shoot me now. I have people on my gaming board that does that all at once. All caps, no punctuation, and rotten spelling. I feel like I have lost IQ points from hades over that.

The other thing I hate is when people ramble with no direction like I just did. I think I need more coffee ....

When people type online (in a chat window, or on a forum) as if they were texting with their phone, it drives me up the wall. I work in the software industry, so we actually do conferences over online chat clients, and it seems incredibly unprofessional to me for someone to type "u" instead of "you" etc. But I hate it just as much when my friends do it, heh.

I wish they would put a post on the main page about not typing in caps

or refer to a link on how to post properly.

It Still Irks Me When I See Posts Like This.

Grrrrr. I Mean Really, It Takes More Effort To type like that then anything ... just annoying.

Yep, that caps thing drives me right around the twist, too. I refuse to read those posts. Why the f@#k do they do it???

no idea, green...

but perhaps my lack of caps annoys people, but its cause i'm lazy , dont intentionally make it difficult and start a new sentence with each word. at least i do use punctuation... for now :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
