Anyone here get their Lap Band in Mexico?

Recommended Posts

I'm currently in the 2nd month of my 6 month "physician supervised diet", and if I have any problems with my ins. company at the end of the 6 months, I'm seriously considering a trip south of the border. Have any of the guys on here had your lap band placed in Mexico?

thanks,

John

Hey, I'm in month 2 as well.

Just reading other posts, it seems like lots of people have been happy with their Mexi-bands.

I seriously considered it but will probably do it locally whether or not my insurance comes through, only because I like the idea of the doc being "on the hook" if there are any issues.

I am in Mexico Recovering right now. I am in Monterrey. Had the band installed yesterday. Still in a little pain but not to bad. I went to the mall with the nutrisionist and purchased some liquids for me to drink. I am not mobidly obese and work in a job that I walk alot, so the recovey is going really well. I would tell the rest of you guys to exercise as much as possible before getting the band done. I hope to lose the 50lbs by summer. I like the Mexico Doctors and hospital. It is nice to get the VIP treatment.

Why don't you guys have a ticker?

Let me know if you need any help getting one.

Terry

I do not own a scale, so I am going with how I feel and clothes sizes. I have been a scale slave before an I really hated it.

I went to Dr. Rodriguez. Had a pleasant experience with the Mexican medical system. The Mexican Doctors teach the American Doctors how to do this operation. I would no worry a bit.

I had my surgery in TJ Mexico. I am from Central Florida and fly Southwest came home first class after surgery. Airline included it was cheaper in Mexico. Now let me tell you this... wife and I travel alot so we had the plan okay we will take a vacation if we feel uncomfortable we will walk away. We both of us felt 100% great about it I had the surgery and it has been wonderful. Any questions I call and they are answered right away.

It was an experience that was Wonderful from start to finish. Hospital is new and first class and close to border. Everything about experience was a good one.

Good luck to you and just check around. There are alot of great doctors in Mexico and they don't ride donkeys they have been doing this surgery alot longer then USA and they have trained most US docs.

I would check to see if there are any fill centers near you.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
