Documentation of weight for 5 years

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am going to my first consult next week and don't know how I am going to show that I have been overweight for at least 5 years. I have been over weight most my life, but unfortunately, never really had a primary care doctor, so don't know how to do this. Has anyone been approved for the surgery, without having all the back documentation? Nervous and need this soooooooo BAD!

Thanks

What insurance do you have? BCBS recently changed it to 3 years worth of weight history. And you only have to have 1 recorded weight for each year. So if you had a physical or went to an urgent care maybe they recorded your weight!

I have bc/bs carefirst ppo. Well, 3 years will help a bit. I am seeing the dr. that I have always seen and am hoping that they have some weight records. Keeping my fingers crossed that this will be quick and painless. Thanks for the info.

Redd- I had about 7 different doctors in the last 5 years and I went to all of them and got all of my records. Everytime you go to the doc they weigh you in. Have you at least been to a doc or nurse practitioner in the last 5 years?

access their information online..you should be able to view the policy guidelines and it will tell you EXACTLY what you have to do and have!!! Good luck to you...it may not be as easy as you hoped but dont give up!!!

Yes, DON'T GIVE UP! I had to gather records for the last five years also and had a heck of a time becuase my primary care records only went back three years. Then the next morning after stressing about it for a day it was EUREKA! I remembered going to a Planned Parenthood for my annual exam once I turned 19 and they had the record I needed.

Be creative, and don't give up. Best of luck.

When you go to a primary care physician, they weigh you, check your BP, temp, etc. and record it in your paperwork. If your provider just wants to see a history of obesity, copies of your records should show it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
