I eat 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I am fairly faithful about writing everything down.

Is your exercise walking or something else?

Yes, can be confusing. It also goes to show how different each person is and how we can't be grouped into a single category just because we've been banded!

For comparison, I walk 3 miles in about an hour, so I only burn about 275 calories and I only walk about three x a week.

My suggestion would be to try to lower the calories to 1200 for a week and see what happens.

I have heard many people on the forum say they stopped losing weight when their bands were too tight, so be sure that you are able to eat solid food. Do you get the full feeling after eating? Are you grazing between meals?

Those are the things that come to mind. I hope you can try to switch something up that makes a difference.

another thing I have heard that if you eat 5 small meals a day instead of 2 or 3 it will boost your metabolism ...

Thanks for all the info, I will put some of it into practice and keep on trying. I'll find a common connection between my band and I and get it to working.

I can't lose unless I eat 1,000 calories per day or less. I wasn't losing at all and my dr. did a resting metabolic test on me which told me exactly how many calories I need per day to keep losing. PLus, I exercise 6 days a week.

I just got a fill on last friday and I have a lot of restriction as a result of it. I am contemplating having a small unfill. I can't eat a lot maybe 2 ounces per meal if that much. I have been getting slimmed up and a little PBing. Is this normal? I've never had restriction like this, I've always been able to eat at least my 4 ounces. What should I do? Should I wait it out and see if it gets better or should I go for a slight unfill on Friday?

Hey candy,

You are lucky that you get to see the Dr. that did your surgery. I did get to see Dr. Lin one time after my surgery. He is a cool guy, but so busy. I did go in for a fill last week and I think it has started me on the road to losing again. My official weigh in day is Weds. so we will see. I do try to excersice. I walk 1.5 miles a day and we have a small farm so I have to do the chores. I really din't try to push myself until I lost 30 lbs. as my back, knees and heels hurt.

I've had some swelling around my band after fills, that has lasted 1 to 4 days and then loosened up a bit, so you might get looser. I would keep the Appt for Friday, but then cancel it if you don't need it.

Maybe taking half out of what they put in, if it doesn't loosen up.

It's not good for you or the band to be too tight.

Denise, What does your Dr. recommend for maintenance, now that you're at goal? Do they suggest a slight unfill? If you're eating 1000 to lose, what do they suggest for maintaining?

Your calorie intake is like mine so I wonder what it will be like later.

I haven't asked my dr. about an unfill fo rmaintenance. I know I would gain weight if I got any taken out.

I don't count calories as closely anymore. I know what causes me to gain weight. I go by the scale. I know if I eat sweets of any kind, I will gain, and it's the same thing with too many carbs. Usually, if I go out to dinner at a nice place on the weekend, I will gain a couple of lbs.

I go back to my usual way of eating during the week, and it comes off.

I seriously doubt I will lose any more weight unless I got another fill. I don't want to do that, since I don't eat much now. I can eat a small piece of meat and a little bit of veggies and I am full. I don't want to eat less than that. I have a piece of fruit for a snack, or some yogurt or string cheese. That's about how I eat every day.

I've found my peeps! I am a slow loser and have been told, by my doc that if I don't lose 50% of what I have to lose by my 1 year anniversary date I will FAIL! (his words not mine)

I have no intention of failing!

Apparently I'm on track but he seems to doubt that at this very slow pace I will be able to continue. He sees weightloss drop off at 6 months.

Going to go back and read some more from you *slow polks* :glare: Happy to be among you!

Slow and steady win the race!

He sees weightloss drop off at 6 months.

My hands are covering my ears and I am humming,(la, la, lah) so I can't hear those words in my mind. LOL!

Sure we will lose more weight in the beginning and then weight loss will be slower and steadier after that, but I sure hope it doesn't stop at the six month mark. Heck, I'm not even at my sweet spot yet!

Is your Dr. lumping GBP patients with banders?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
