Good Morning, Violets..

I'm dressed and ready to head to church to practice for the memorial service today, then lap band support group right afterwards. It's another cloudy, stormy day. No warming the pool today..:)

Pam.. so great to read your posts and remember all the things I loved about Germany too. Will be glad to have you home so you can post EVERY day!!

Terry.. you look great!! Can't see any bruising in the pic.

Laura... don't forget your Violets when your Dad wins the tournament!!!!! He sure seems to be on a roll.

TracyK... I PB on just about anything if I eat it too fast or too much. Yesterday I had a handful of goldfish crackers... then drank some Crystal Light too soon and up it all came.

Gotta run... everyone have a great day!! Catch ya later...

Laura, you crack me up!!!! I laughed so hard!!!

Glad to hear from you Pam!! Your postcard showed such a beautiful scene, and you sounded like you were having a great relaxing time.

Off to work, end of a busy, busy week. I have to admit I sort of lost my cool yesterday and under my breath, but loud enough, but hopefully not heard I did say a few choice words. Bad girl for me. I will be glad when I get the share the phone duty with others again.

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

(Hardly seems worth it.)

If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

(Now that's more like it!)

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.

(O.M.G.!)

A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes.

(In my next life, I want to be a pig.)

A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy.)

(I'm still not over the pig.)

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories a hour

(Don't try this at home, maybe at work)

The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off.

(Honey, I'm home. What the...?!)

The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.

(30 minutes..lucky pig! Can you imagine?)

The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.

(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)

Some lions mate over 50 time s a day.

(I still want to be a pig in my next life..quality over quantity)

Butterflies taste with their feet.

(Something I always wanted to know.)

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue. (Hmmmmmm.....)

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.

(If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)

Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.

(Okay, so that would be a good thing)

A cat's urine glows under a black light.

(I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

( I know some people like that.)

Starfish have no brains

(I know some people like that too.)

Polar bears are left-handed.

(If they switch, they'll live a lot longer)

Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.

(What about that pig??)

Guess what I got??????

Go ahead, take a stab at it.

I bet you'll be right this time.

I actually have a pool in my backyard. Yup, I said it. It's for real. I have pool. It may not have Water in it yet. But it's up. They will be back Monday to finish putting the skimmer and water intake valves in. Than we just have to wait for the plumber to come and hook up the heater. Right now it has about 2 feet of water in it and it's cold water. Can't wait to get that heater going. I'm hoping that by next weekend we will all be in it playing volleyball and floating and synchronized swimming. Sis and I used to do that when we were younger.

So, did you all guess right?????????

Question????

I have read it post where people say they have a 4cc band and that they have 4.25 in it and feeli that they need more in their band. I guess I'm not understanding this. Does a 4 cc or a 10cc band not hold 4cc or 10cc's. Do they actually hold more than that?

I have a 10cc band and I have 7.6cc's in mine. I probably could use a little more but I don't want to get to the point where I'm throwing up. That is one thing I have not done in my 2 years of having my band and I don't want to start now.

Wooooo Hooooooo.. Pool Party at Suzie's!!! I sure hope to get in the pool sometime this week. Today it got to 85 air temp, but the Water temp was only 78.. grrrrrrrrrr I need more SUN!!

As for the Fluid in the bands.. I have heard that you can put in a little more than what the band is.. for instance 4.1 or 4.2 in a 4cc band. I'm at 3.1 in mine and I'm fine as far as restriction. Just got to keep my head in the game.

The Wiifit is sooooooooooooo much fun and I'm sooooooooo sore!! My Wiifit age today was 72 so that tells ya I didn't do as well on the balance stuff today. But I hold the record for ski jumps and hula hoops!!

The memorial service went well and afterwards, I had 12 people in the lap band support group... 8 of them were new!! They all seemed really excited about the group and said they'd be back. Now I have to contact some of the original members and see why they aren't coming. If they were all there, we'd have about 20 people.

Tomorrow the Bobster and I are going to church together since he doesn't have to preach and then we're headed out of town for the day. We're going to a little town about an hour and a half away and just do some window shopping and have dinner. He was gone all day today and we don't like to spend that much time apart since we've "retired".

Time to go check the ribs in the oven and see how he's doing on the Wiifit.

Will check back tonight..

My son found the Wii console for me, but I had to get the Wiifit on ebay at almost double the price cause you just can't get them in the U.S. right now. Whenever they go onsale online, they are snatched up before you have a chance to grab them. And I'm sure it's by people who sell them on ebay! But I do love it!!! Bob jogged 1.999 miles last night and he hasn't done that in many, many years. I'm still way sore from the hula hoop and running. But I look forward to it every day.

Good Morning, Violets..

I'm up early to get ready for church and then the Bobster and I are heading out for the day. It looks like it will be a warm sunny one, so the pool pump and solar heater are on and hopefully will raise the Water temp some.

Everyone have a great day. Will check in when we get home tonight.

Hi Everyone!

Well, today is the last day of my vacation. I'm going to make it count by pounding some metal.

Had a fun day yesterday browsing around the historic Heights area yesterday <sigh>..... it makes me so nostalgic for the 'old days'. Going down there is like being transported to the 50's ... all the houses are old (but mostly restored) , the trees are big and shady, and the shops are so cool! I bought this neat-o turkish candle lantern made of bronze and red hand-blown glass...but can't figure out where to put it. That's me!

Poor Pammy has to come home. I bet she's sad. It sure was fun reading her posts, though, wasn't it? I'll kind of miss the z=y.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
