TracyK I hope you work everything out!! I want you to come, but know it must be a hardship for you.

JEN!!! So so sorry to hear about your job! What a shock!!! I sure hope you get called back soon. You're in my prayers.

The bobster and I went up north to a car dealership to look at a Prius. Holy smokes that car is awesome. however they won't give us as much for his truck as the Buick dealership here so we're going with the LaCross. Then in a year when I get AHEM... Social Security.. I know, I know, you're ALL saying "wow.. that's not possible, she looks so young." we'll trade my Aztek in for a Prius.

Tracyk... don't have your husband call me. I'm the minister's wife who's considering a tattoo:eek: and voting for Obama.. :Dancing_biggrin:

AND, I have gone off by myself to meet people I have talked to on the Internet. And yes, the Bobster let me go. He knows I'm a big girl and wouldn't do anything stupid. And these were all people I had talked to for 3-5 years online. You get to know a lot about them in that amount of time. And I know most of us can be trusted. Terry.... not so much. :Dancing_biggrin::tt2::lol::lol:

Well, I'm going to go chat with one of those crazy people from the internet and then head to bed. I'm in the office of the Democratic Party Headquarters tomorrow for a couple of hours and then choir in the evening followed by a German class. And they say retirement is boring!!

Everyone have a great evening, sleep well. (((HUGS)))to Jenn.

I ate 2 bites of Rick's dessert!!! I just made him a little bowl of Apple Crisp---so I would not be tempted! And I ended up tempted enough to take a couple bites anyway!!!

Oh well, I used to would have made a big dish, and we would have eated it in a couple of days!!! Now I make a little bowl!!! It ain't perfect but it is progress!!

I got the new Jonathon Kellerman paperback today, and I really want to start it, but if I do, I will be up all night, so I am refusing!!! Will read it tomorrow!!

Got new pics of my grandson today----adorable!!! She had them done at Sears....he was in a great mood, and was full of laughs---I love that little critter!!! He just makes you smile back at him!! I was going to give you a link to see him, but not sure that is wise!

I exercised my Granny options today!! I bought Easter outfits! It was hard for the girls, everything out there is sleeveless, and it is still cold in the morning here! Finally found some little sweaters, that I could coordinate to the girls dresses. Lindzie is now in the bigger girls sizes, because of her height---so no way to match the girls anymore!! I bought Lindzie a white dress with an orchid sash across the hips and the skirt below is floral....it has a really cute neckline, it is open weaved kind of on the collarbone. She has really good coloring, blonde, olive skinned with big brown eyes---so white looks really good on her. Kinsey ended up with lime green, with the sheer overskirt, and it has pink and white flowers. Her sweater matched the green perfect, Lindzie got an orchid sweater. Connor I found a pair of khaki colored pants, and a light blue plaid button up shirt with the collar that matches the pants---it is really cute. Bought him brown boots---like a hiking boot style, and both girls white dress shoes. Tights for the girls, and maybe they will stay warm! I could not find shoes for Lindzie that did not look like shoes my mother would wear!!! Heels, but old looking---she liked them, I didn't! Kinsey is still in small enough shoes, she got flat, little girl shoes!! We got things to color eggs. I know Manda is going to color eggs with the girls on Saturday, but Kinsey and I are going to do some here tomorrow. Why? Cuz we can!!!

I remember when the girls were little they always had hats, and gloves out for the little girls---not anymore! She never wore them for more than a minute but they sold them just the same!!!

Well---I am going to check my mail and go to bed. Take care all---see ya in the mornin'!

Kat

No, you are STILL a Goody Two Shoes because you got on the elliptical!! You were sooooooooo close!!! Darn!
There was a whole lot going on here today! Unlike Terry I would be looking at the cookie!!! That is great that you are eyeing the vegetables!!! I want to be there!
It's a fluke, Janie... I go in spurts. OH, and I ended up having a 100 calorie bag of chips Ahoy AND a Skinny Cow ice cream bar after I had those veggies!!! LOL

Ohh gosh, does THAT bring back memories or what?? Easter was always my favorite holiday (besides Xmas of course) because of all the foo-foo we got to wear! Hats and gloves and always new white patent shoes with tights. LOL...and like you said....we had it on for about an hour! But man-o-man I used to love the Easter Egg Hunts at my grandpa's farm with all my cousins and all the wonderful food. My grandpa would BBQ in the yard (it's usually about 80 by Easter), the folks would drink cold beer and sit in lawn chairs and talk while the kids would run around like crazy people, in and out of the house eating kolaches. But the highlight of the day was when Grandpa would take us to the chick house and we'd get to play with the 100 new baby chicks he bought. (Little did we realize we'd be eating those baby chicks for Easter the next year!!)

That must have been really hard, Laura!! I'd go see movies more often if weren't for the intoxicating smell of popcorn!! I eat as much as I can stuff into my face...WITH butter, of course. Oy, it's an incredible weakness for me! My hat's off to ya, girlfriend! Hope the scale rewards your efforts!

LOL That's so funny!! I can't imagine under what crazy scenario that would even be remotely necessary!

Oddly, my DH hasn't voiced any concern whatsoever. Hmmmm.

Good morning violets-

Pam-I got your message....I am so sorry I did not hear my phone. I normally have it right next to me but with everything going on I left it in the kitchen. Thank you so much for calling me! It made my evening!

I am kind of down in the dumps today so I do not really have too much to say right now. I am sure that will change as the day goes on....at least I hope so. The good news is I am still smoke free and I am still going on the trip!! Everyone have a great day.

Wow! What a busy day here yesterday! & I missed it! One thing that jumped out at me is Jenn's news.

JENN!!~~ Oh no!! I can't believe it! I am so so sorry for you. Please come here often for encouragement, motivation, and hope... we're rooting for you and are sending all our good thoughts and wishes your way. ((hugs))

Today's the kids' first day off school for Spring break. Am having the carpets cleaned today because I'm hosting 20 folks for Easter Sunday (of course, dh says to have them cleaned on MONDAY... & he's probably right...). Then just errands & work & such.

Make it a great day, everyone!

Hey V's~

Got a meeting this morning at the District office, so I gotta post quickly!

I have no Easter plans...just another Sunday. I was gonna take my nephew to the little zoo here, but I think he is gonna go to all his cousin's house. Oh well, perhaps we can go next week during break. My bro and his ex are seriously fighting now...it is totally ugly. Some very mean words are being used, and it is sad. I kinda feel like I can't see my neices (her daughters) and it is weird! Oh well...in a few years it will be over!

Gotta go put my face on!

Have a great day!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
