OOO Jen,

I am sooo sorry honey...that totally sucks! I can't believe it. Worst part is I have no great words of wisdom...just don't give up. We love you!

Awww Jenn----the best thing I can think of at this point, is it is laid off, not fired. Clients come and go, and it might be related to this horrid stock market/financial center fiasco----so maybe when things begin the upswing, it will either bring the client back, or another to re open your position.

2 weeks ago, just before the dinner with the boss--they told Rick to be thinking about his department, he might be looking at layoffs. He was very unhappy about it. Without equipment, the entire place is in the crapper, but they don't see it that way. So at the dinner the boss is talking about how the company owns hunting ranches, and the company owns hunting dogs--and time shares, and on, and on, and on. Majorly pissed Rick off. He is having to decide who to lay off, and they are spending money buying dogs!

So he has been freaking out over his 401K, but we had moved it not a week ago!!! So we didn't get hit hard-----but he calls me today, and they picked up several billion dollars worth of work here for Conoco Phillips, so he has to hire an entire crew and get his shop ready to roll 24/7. Now they are working 12 hour shifts. He fights to find one experienced hand---and is now needing to hire no less than 14!

So----while I know this is shocking and scary, and would make me mad as hell too----don't despair yet, we are in some turbulent financial times -- and many companies are making adjustments. This is your year, it WILL work out!

I read this thread----reading about the loves of our lives, and the simple thought of trying to put into words what Rick means to me---how to impart the heart of the man he is, reduced me to tears!

Rick is the owner of my heart. He is a true man....one not afraid to try, not afraid to fail, not afraid to express his love, his fear, his hopes. He supports me in ways I cannot seem to support myself. He loves our families, he loves me enough to love me in spite of how mean I get about our families!!!! He is smart--also very political! He is an incredibly gifted mechanic. He gets calls from head hunters quite frequently, he is in demand for his job. He is handy---he has built on to our home, and built garages for both sets of parents. Not to mention he looks hot on his motorcycle, has a really cute butt (but Judy and I discussed this before!) and keeps me a smiling happy wife!!!

All that said----the man can be irritating as hell! The TV volume is always on HIGH! He always wants the same thing for dinner--'I don't care' or 'it doesn't matter' or sometimes we have 'whatever'!

And while he was wonderful and fair minded disciplining our kids, he lets the grandkids go wild---makes me the bad guy! UUURRGGG

Gotta go peel some potatoes for tonights I don't care!!

TTYL~~

Tracy we have the same name AND the same addiction! Ice cream is my heroin....not crack...HEROIN. I would have to use drugs and have a long hospital stay to get off of it!!

Jenn-I am SO sorry. I do not know what to say!

The best part of our other half? My dh is my best friend, lover, confidant, shoulder to cry on. He lifts my spirit, supports me in most everything I want to do, laughs at my jokes. He cleans the house, washes my car, makes my coffee every morning that he is home, helps with Macy (yes I am spoiled). He fits in perfectly with my family and they all love him too. (or at least the ones in the family that count, lol)

Here is the good news...I AM COMING TO GRUENE! DH is not too happy about it because he is worried about me going off with people from the internet I do not know, but I have tried to explain to him that you all are not strangers to me and I feel like I am going to more of a family reunion!! So, I am going and that is that!!!:)

Have a great night violets~

Tracy if needed, call us and let us talk to him, let him see we're not crazy. Just don't put Judy on the phone mwhahah!

YAY YOU'RE COMING!!

Jenn I'm so sorry, I don't have any good words of wisdom either :) Sounds like you need to relocate. You know, cost of living in the south is 1/3 what it is up north (at least) and pay is the same. My bestfriend moved to South Carolina from NYC once she finally believed me. I told her for years they need to move, sure enough, she went from renting an overpriced apt, to owning their own house.. and her husband's job is the exact same! Hang in there girl! You can only get so low, before things HAVE to go up!

I just had the weirdest thing happen with a customer. And I mean weird. Normally, I mean, in general, it's 100% business. They want the best deal, they fight and moan and try to BS us to get better pricing. They want it free, really.

So I have this new account, HUGE HUGE.. possibly going to be my biggest account, they bought out huge former clients of ours. I'm trying to start off really well with them. I call and talk to him about cutting deals, etc.

Well I quoted something wrong to him, I gave it to him significantly cheaper than I should (I quoted the wrong item). Since it's the first job, I signed off on it, we'll take the loss in anticipation of lots of jobs from him. Well today he re-quoted the same thing at a huge quantity, and it ended up being more expensive to do the huge quantity than the current quantity (doh, I didn't notice this). So I just told him, I quoted the wrong item originally, but I wasn't going to change the price on him after he put the job in here.

He writes back.............wait for it............ And tells me to charge the higher price. .... ... .. Whaaa?

Never in the history of workin here, have I had a customer that would ever say such a thing.

Ya'll are cracking me UP!!!!! My daughter keeps saying, "MOM!! WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT?????" (She thinks I am so weird sometimes...that's why she loves me so much.)

Except for you, Jenn -- you are NOT cracking me up! I am in shock!! But I do second what Laura said! The economy is rockin' here in TX and has been for quite some time...(except for our health care system that the illegal aliens have crippled.) I know you are really wanting to stay put for your daughter's sake...but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm really, really sorry, sweetie!

Ok, ice cream is my crack too. I admit it. I do eat 'no sugar added' vanilla @ 90 cals/half-cup....then put Hershey's Lite Syrup on it...but I never ever miss a day. Some nights it's the only thing I get down, so I don't worry about it too much!

We're all addicts. Oh. Except for Judy!!! Little Miss Goody Two Shoes!

I'm going to see Horton Hear's a Who. My friend I caught up with last week (so excited), he called and asked if I wanted to go see it tonight! And, we talked about it at dinner and he said he doesn't like kids movies, so I thought that was really sweet he's willing to go see it with me. DH won't!!! Yeah, big jerk face hahaha.

One of my exes emailed me tonight, haven't talked to him in years.. wanted to show off his 2 year old daughter. And man, she is CUTE. Really cute.

I'm torn, I have had 400 calories today with b'fast, lunch, dinner. Going for a GREAT day, now I have to decide.. a martini, popcorn, candy? Nothing? Waaah. I must pick something low cal, which is none of the above.. maybe I'll bring my own snack. Where's the fun in that though?

Jenn, So sorry about the job. Hang in there.

TracyK, Don't have your hubby call me. I AM CRAZY.

Day did progressively get better. Now I'm off to bed because I have to pull my 2 hour shift at 6 am. Keep your fingers crossed for my Doc appointment. Let's hope for a good loss.

My Hubby puts lotion on my back whenever I want it.:thumbup::Dancing_biggrin:

Hey V's~

I just called Tracy to say that I am soooo glad she is coming. I was heart sick when I heard she wasn't, but now I am sooo excited for our trip! (I left a message cause I forgot it is 9pm here...sorry, it is still light out here).

I had a conference call at 3:30. Then I had to go to the store and buy a shitload (a new unit of measurment) of popcorn for our Power Point presentations tomorrow. The kids did an AMAZING job w/ these. There are 5 on different natural disasters. Mind you, these kids are 2nd and 3rd year in the country. They are presenting to the principals, librarians, councelors, and a few teachers. We are having popcorn for our audience! I love teaching ELD and love my ELD kids the bestest!

Well, while I was in the popcorn aisle, I found something that made me soooo mad. DID YOU KNOW SOMEONE MADE WASABI chips? ??? I am sooo pissed that I found them. Guess what I had for dinner? ?? Yep, even worked out (yes, that is 2 days in a row for those who are counting) and then had chips for dinner!!! Wonder why/how I put on all this weight???

What # Susie???

There are too many TV choices tonight??? What to do...what to do???

Go play scrabble then come back and check in on the Violets...that's the ticket!

Oh yeah, I was gonna mention about the guests that come in and read our drama...we are not as weird as we appear. That was pretty funny today!

There is one guest....that is in here spying on me!!! Information gets back to family, and things tossed in my face----and I don't care! What I say is either totally true, or how I FEEL about things, and that is not arguable, they may not agree with how I feel, but it is MY feelings not theirs!!! Let them read it all----and know I am sick of their crap!!! LOL!!!

Be back in a few---Rick is sick---he has a horrid cold, gonna go rub some Vicks on his chest.....and that my friends is love. I am allergic to menthol....but he just thinks I don't care to use it myself! Hahahahaha!!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
