I'm not even going to think about even saving up for it till post-goal post-kids. And that's forever away!!

But uh yeah, I showed DH what they do to lift the belly, that whole.. slit across your front (I always imagine someone standing up and their guts fall out..eek). I still can't fathom the healing pain. I read everyone who blogs about it, no one says how miserable they are, but I would just be so freaked by being cut all the way across that I'd imagine I was in more pain than I was hah hah.

If any of you guys do it, you gotta share everything!

Happy St. Patrick's Day To All.

I put my corned beef in the crock pot this morning before I left for work. Hubby was sad to hear that I took 2 of his beer cans to use. First time I have ever tried that. Hope it works out. Not cooking cabbage cause I don't like cooked cabbage. Love it raw, just not cooked. Probably just fry up some tators and onions to go with it.

Went to Bob Evan's for a late lunch with a friend of mine. I remebered to eat real slow and chew chew chew. I didn't finish all my lunch because of it. Good job. Now if I could just do that all the time. My appointment is Wednesday with Dr. Malley so I'm kinda anxious to see how I did.

Got my green on today and will try to remember to wear my yellow tomorrow for St. Spongebob day.

Have a great day.

I bought some cute "Lucky" undies for St. Patty's day, then completely forgot. I guess I was so focused on making sure to drink Water to be able to do a urinalysis (I was drinking water from the moment I woke up.. didn't want a repeat of what happened at the dermatologist).

So Happy P's Day! And I'll wear yellow undies tomorrow for Spongebob day lololol.

Suzie- Somethin' you said surprised me.. are you ever able to finish a lunch (From a restaurant)? Since I guess Sept. when I got filled, I've never once been able to finish a restaurant meal.. b'fast lunch or dinner.< /p>

And Haydee.. I didn't comment on what you posted, because I don't have anything insightful to say and figured you just needed to vent! So, I'm not ignoring it, and I hope you figure out what you need to do for you.

Thanks Laura. I do come on here to vent but to also get advice and input. I am the same as you, I read everything but if I don't have any insight I don't comment.

I didn't wear any green today!! And I didn't get pinched once!! I'm gonna run home and put on a green pin or something before I go to my mom's because I know my dad will get me if he doesn't see green!

Anyone know what I can do for an infected hang nail? It's on my middle index finger and it's a little swollen, red and hot. It hurts like crazy. I've tried trimming it away from the nail but it's really hard to get my clippers all the way down to where it is.

My brother chews his nails so low they get infected frequently! He uses one of the little dosage cups that come with liquid meds--like Nyquil---puts some peroxide in it, and bubbles it out---he said sometimes it stings a little but nothing like it would with alcohol.

Might try it!

We are not corned beef and cabbage eaters either....so gonna grill my steak out in the snow!!! The grill is on the patio, just out the door, so not a big deal. Think I will roast some veggies. I take potatoes, mushrooms, onions, peppers...whatever I have put them in a large ziplock bag, dump in about 1/4 cup of EVOO and a packet of onion Soup mix, and a couple of tablespoons of this dried, roasted red pepper and garlic seasoning I use....shake it all up---dump it in a baking pan----and cook it at 400 for 35-40 minutes, stirring every 10-15 minutes. They crisp up on the outside, and stay tender in the middle. I have some frozen garlic bread, I can toss on the last few minutes for Rick. That way I am all done when it gets finished!!! They cook good on the grill too, but they take a lot longer it seems, and I am not wanting to run in and out more than necessary!

I have not set foot outside today!!! Has been a wierd day. Usually Rick calls a couple times---he's been quiet. Kinsey has been in a very somber mood, very independent! We colored some pics on line, and read a couple of books. But even at lunch when she usually jabbers, she just yawned! All of us are lazy!

Well....guess I'll go prep my veggies.

Kat

Well, in a perfect world I would find out my insurance will pay for it and then I would hope to have it done before Macy starts kindergarten in late August...like July probably. If I could not get insurance to approve by then I would have to wait until next year sometime. BUT, if insurance doesn't pay no telling if I will ever get it done unless I win the lottery. I am in no position to finance another surgery. I will be paing for my band for 4 more years....

If it is meant to be, it will be:rolleyes2:

Day 3 of NO Smoking is complete (almost)!!!!!!!1

I want what Terry wants, the eye life thingy...does that count as work??? I've wanted one for about 3 years, and a friend had hers done. She said it was about 1500, quick and painless...and that it made a HUGE difference on her face. So...that is my next "indulgence". Oh yeah, except for that Bose Ipod dock station!!!

Off to jazzercise! You heard me...She is going to dance class people!

Yes Tracy I am going to....to be very honest I am just scared to do it! Plus they said 4-6 weeks and it has not even been 3! But I kinda wanted the news in the privacy of my own home to dance like a maniac to, or to bawl my eyes out to......know what I mean????

Wed. I am calling though, that was my deadline I told Rick last night. I got the insurance papers on all of my dental work, and I got the EOB on my office visit, so everything else is being sent through, so that should be coming along as well......

anyone have any advice for calling???

I'm exhausted today, no idea why. None of the meds they gave me cause drowsiness, but I was too tired to even drive home, so I rode home with DH and left my car at work. I've been in bed folding laundry and gettin ready to sleep and gma called, can't figure out how to open an attachment in an email.. so had to fix that for her, and my elliptical-mini arrived today! I just finished putting it together, was on it about 15 seconds to test it, but it has to wait till another time. Feel like I'm gonna pass out sitting here.. but wanted to say g'night to ya'll before I went back to bed!

Evening, Violets...

Got home about 8:30 and am exhausted. 8 hours of driving is the pits, but it's all worth it. I lost 5# since I was at the docs last and the Bobster lost 1/2 # He got a fill and I didn't. I had some fish for lunch and pb'd the whole thing so I knew I didn't need one. We'll see how this month goes and make a decision about the next appointment on the 14th of April. Sure hope the fill works for the Bobster!

I am glad to see you back Haydee, but don't have any answers for your dilemma. I found the right guy the very first time so I don't have any expertise in that area. I'm blessed and I know it.

I'm gonna head to the hot tub and then bed. Supposed to get snow and freezing rain from 2 a.m. til 11 a.m. Oh joy.

Everyone sleep well..

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
