That's been happening to me a lot. Or elastic waist with drawstring and you have to pull the drawstring as tight as you can so the pants will stay up. That's when it's time to go shopping!

:biggrin:Yeah! Shopping! Can't wait for the need again. I've had to once this spring/summer, and have to soon as I have very few good dresses for church anymore. It's great when you hvae to get rid of some fat clothes.

:thumbup:Yeah for you! I was, also, thinking that the 1st time you have to get a new bra size is nice too. I went to Victoria Secret for myself last week. I had to drop 4 band sizes and 1 cup! :w00t:

Really impressive ladies....especially kll724....I've never even been in a Victoria's Secret for the past 10 years...they never carried my size.

It's pretty cool about the elastic waisted pants falling off....I've had that happen too. I've been using the drawstring on most of my elastic pants. I'm really holding off on buying much of anything until I'm down to a size 20. I was a 26 and I've wearing 24's because I have a bunch and they fit (loose) and a few 22's again. I have a bunch of shirts that are big, but they are "big shirts" so I put a t-shirt under them and off I go. Now here's a great thing for me....I have a huge pile of t-shirts that I haven't been able to wear and now I can. I actually put a couple on that were big. As for bras...I still had 1 size smaller bras that I couldn't wear and now I can, so I have double the number of bras. I might have to buy undies however, I actually threw a pair away yesterday because they are too big.

I still have enough clothes to get buy for another 20 pounds or so and at the rate I'm losing, I'll have until spring...so that seems like a very good time to go shopping again.

Congratulations to all you new bandsters. It is a lot of work and sometimes the weight just doesn't come off like you want it to, but keep in mind that as you change your eating habits and exercise habits, you are not gaining weight and that is a good thing.

I'm learing all sorts of things about the way I eat and how it affects my body. I'm also trying to deal with my head hunger....not fun, but in the long run, I'll be healthier and feel better. I am looking forward to that.

Have a great night.

Yes, head hunger, I can agree there. I hate watching even Mc D's commercials. I love french fries. So far I have been good, even on my pre-op. I don't think I ever really noticed all the food commercials. And, I might not cook on Thanksgiving. Might let the supermarket cook for me.

I had a coupon that was sent to my daughter-in-law, she has gotten fat at size 6. Anyway, she wasn't using it, and my daughter wanted to go out. So, the lady there measured me, and I was a 38DD. I started at 44 d. And, I was able to get a pair of free panties, too!!!!

Geez, this thread got very quiet. All the talk of bras and drawstrings must have driven everyone away.

I know there are other over 50's out there looking for a place to land. This thread is pretty good most times.

I think I've noticed a few July Freedom Fighters struggling. Maybe I'll go find one of those threads and revive it. We have to remember we are in this for the long haul and it's not a quick fix. I know everyone has heard that before but really think about it. It isn't a quick fix.

Hi, Karen here.

Started my work outs, yesterday. I can't do anything with stomach, but can do arms and legs. Feel okay, after 1 hr workout. I am getting ready to go out to the gym, now. Have a great day, and good to hear from you folks.

Good Morning, Ladies! Yes, I was noticing last night that this thread has been very quiet lately! And there used to be a LOT more folks on this thread. Don't know where everyone has gone.

You're right, Eva... long haul! No quick fix! I've been working on this for 28 months now! Still plugging along. It's worth it!

Off to the pool for Water aerobics soon. I offered to make copies of the CD we use for someone, but now I can't remember what thread it was let alone WHO it was!!

:lol::w00t::smile:

If it was someone here, please let me know so I can do it! And PM address to me so I can mail it.

Hey, I'd like to join in. I'm a little discouraged today. Got on the scale at my doctor's during our support group meeting last night, and had gained a pound or more back. And this was after my first fill. It seems like I can eat more lately and I want more.

They let me reschedule my 6-weeks-apart fill for a little earlier, so I'm going in about 2 weeks from now for my second fill. That made me feel a little bit better. But when I look on people's tickers and see that they've lost a lot more weight than me (and esp. if they were banded after me) I get discouraged. I guess I need a pep talk!

Thanks for listening, you guys.

Based on what you said about being able to eat more and want more, yes, you probably need a fill. You're not yet at your "sweet spot". BUT, 30 lb in 2 mos is GREAT!! Don't beat yourself up over that. Hang in there!

Hi Peaches thanks for the encouragement I can use it. I live on Vancouver Island near Victoria. I was at a seminar for the False Creek Surgery Clinic a couple of weeks ago and there were only 13 people there. It is still kind of a new concept out this way. I am pumped to get into my old "skinny" clothes that i never threw away. I hope they are still in style. I am aware that not a lot of us men are on here but hey that is fine with me!

Vancouver Island is beautiful... you are SO lucky! I used to live in Victoria 31 years ago (married to a Sailor!)

Yes, keep those skinny clothes... you'll get into them but reward yourself with some NEW along the way too!!

Clothes can then become your NEW addiction LOL:redface:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
