Orea - I love love love your advice and no nonsense responses

(Are you a teacher in "real life" by any chance?)

I WILL do this test-thingy (again) tonight and consider it one of the many steps I'll have to dance to obtain my goal.

and lynnt1215 -

I don't remember having sleep issues before my obesity issues.

just baby issues.

Hopefully this OSA will be another thing of the past for me as well.

I leave for the sleep-lab in less than 2 hours - so I'm going to pack my nicest ball of Opal sock yarn with a set of #1's, pomegranate flavored Water, a toothbrush, clean undies and "The Lace Reader"

See ya all tomorrow after I Shampoo all that gunk out of my hair!

Nitey Nite. :Banane37:

I'm not a teacher...yet! But it runs in my family. My mom was a wonderful first grade teacher for many years. The sixth grade teachers in her school could tell which students were hers, because they read so much better than the others. (still a proud daughter!)

Two weeks out and I am still feeling some restriction. Long may it last.

Off to have my last Protein shake and head for bed. <yawning>

Hugs,

Orea

Finally lost another pound....whew! It has been slow going for me. I have not posted lately out of frustration, but I have been reading all your posts. Congratulations to all the new bandsters. Orea, you are doing great and looking wonderful. This forum has been so very helpful when my motivation falters, and that has been almost constant with my interminable plateaus. Thank you all for helping me get through this. Even though I have a ton to lose, I know I will be able to do it, thanks to you all and your sharing and support.

YAHOO!!! I HIT THE 50 POUND MARK TODAY!!! I am so elated that milestone has been eluding me and teasing me for a week or more. Today I have a well woman exam at my primary care dr who hasn't seen me since pre banding so am anxious to see what he has to say about my weight. You get weighed there even if you go for a throat culture for once I am looking forward to it.

Angel, congrats on that pound!! Keep it up!!

Great Long2bthin;

It must be a real treat to actually look forward to a weigh-in at the doc's.

I hope there is an accurate scale there (or at least IN-accurate in your favor)

It seems that I DO need the mask.

I slept very well with it last night despite my squawking.

A poor fella in the next room was over 400 pounds and had to have his mask re-fitted and re-adjusted several times.

Another woman was soooo afraid of every little thing.

Quick question -

when your head insists that you absolutely MUST have something sweet - (some of you may have to close your eyes here) - like a chocolate bar or a frozen Peanut Butter cup - :tongue_smilie:

other than locking yourself up in the attic - what's the best way to get past it?

Have a Calcium Chew or a Fat Free/Low Cal Fudgcicle.

Hi all -

Janet (Indio) is away so she sent us over to this thread, but I see many familiar names already. Guess I missed this thread.

Anyway, not too long ago she mentioned some "one pot wonders". They were recipes she created that can last a week. I looked for them but couldn't find them. I start solid food again this weekend and thought I would make one of them. Any ideas? Or, any other suggestions would be great. I'm hoping to make something on Sunday that will last the week for lunch at work.

Kathy

When you have a craving for something specific, you know it's your head and not true hunger. Which leads me to another motto I got from my mentor:

If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the answer!

She would go on to ask you, what emotion are you trying to dull or numb with those foods?

It's amazing what can come up when we stop anesthetizing ourselves.

Just got home from the dr. office. He and the nurse both had to double check my file to see what I weighed last time as if they couldn't believe it. They were impressed. My b/p was borderline high but he said to continue on without my b/p meds as it will only get better. Their scale was right on what mine said so that was good. Then they proceeded to take about 4 tubes of bloodwork, OUCH!! part was for their usual lab work and some extra ones my surgeon wanted ordered for my 3 mos post op check, might as well get all done at once!

Thanks for the reminder to update my ticker, can't believe I forgot that.

For me the cravings aren't for sweets or chocolate but for salty, crunchy like chips. I try to busy myself with something else, like reading the boards here, walking, doing a chore or something. Plus not to have it in the house.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
