Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Recommended Posts

I have been measured several times, at several different stores. I have even been measured in several states! I am a 38 B right now.

I swear men make and design bras and they don't think of comfort when they do this. I have one old one that is made out of a very comfortable material. I can't find it anymore.

It's by Warner's and it's called "friday's bra"

I hope I don't lose anymore weight in my boobs. They are deflated enough.

I went to Vicky Secrets and got measired, and sur enough the wrong size for me. I was wearing a 44D... measured a 38C fits great. I bought the full coverage style, best money I have spent..

Now I found Bali's bra, is is softer and moves better than the Vicky Secret bra. same basic style, but feels more a part of me than something on me!! if you get what I mean!!!

Hi, Sherry. I'm due to get my band on May 21st too! I'm 58 so I'm nearly 60. From what I have read the medications do come in liquid form.

Welcome,

Susan

Hey Denise.....happy to hear that your revision is over and everything went well. As Janet said, please stay in contact with us on this thread. Will be interesting to hear of your journey.

Speaking of bras.....just have to recommend a brand that is an absolute dream. Hardly know you have it on it you buy the right fit. Had no clue it is the brand that Oprah brags about wearing. Came accross it at the recommendation of a little old lady shop owner. It's called LeMysterey Rouge. I ended up as a 38D. I did try a C cup but just didn't work for me.

Hi to all the newbies and welcome!

Welcome, Sherry!

There is a thread for 60+, and you're certainly welcome to hang out here, too, as I do!

You can get a lot of meds in liquid form. What in particular are you wondering about? I find I am able to swallow most tablets and capsules as long as they aren't too big. Immediately following surgery you will probably want to have some liquid Tylenol onhand. I take a few Vitamins, and I use Centrum Silver chewables, Calcium chews, liquid B-Complex (sub-lingual). My Rx are all small enough to swallow. And within a year of my surgery date, one cholesterol pill was discontinued and one of my two BP Rx half strength, making a much smaller tablet to swallow. So if you are on prescription meds, you may find your doctor eliminating some as your weight goes down.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Thanks for trying to find it for me. I looked at all the pictures at those sites and none of them looked like the

one that I have. It's hard to tell from a picture though.

The sides are made out of this really light weight material

that is really comfortable.

It seems like Warner's must have come out with a new

"Friday Bra"

As far as revision goes, I am doing great. I am going back to work tomorrow. I feel fine. I am a little bit hungry some of the time. I am not supposed to feel hunger, but being on

Clear liquids for 10 days is going to be harder than I thought.

My stomach just aches sometimes because it just feels so

empty.

I just called the doctor's office to ask if I could move to

Protein shakes.

She was going to call the dr. and call me back but it was late in the day and didn't call. I am going to call again in the morning.

I'm glad you're going together. It would have been better if I had someone to talk to. WasA's friend came to see me and that was nice. Most people there were getting bands removed and not getting the sleeve. There were a couple getting bands that I didn't really want to talk to because I don't have anything good to say about the band.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
