I have posted a few times on other forums, but I am a beginner here.

I have recently started the process of what will hopefully lead to me getting approved for LB.

I am currently on the three month supervised diet required by my insurance company. I am seeing Dr. Garth Davis (Big Medicine) for my surgery. I was worried about getting approved (you never know w/insurance), but I think I now have a pretty good chance.

I am 5'6 and 255, BMI 41. I had a sleep study done and they called yesterday to tell me I do have sleep apnea. Not that it is good, but I do know it will help my chances. I have to have my CPAP study/fitting tomorrow. I can just add that diagnosis to high cholesterol, GERD, asthma, and hypothyroidism.

I hope to get to know a few of you and get some encouragement. Other than my husband, my family is not aware of my intentions, so I really don't have many people to share this with. I love my family, but they tend to be very negative & jealous (not to mention none of the women are over a size 6)!

Hello to you all!!

Dr. Davis did my surgey yesterday 1.4.07. I loved him. He was so good and I did great. I hope you get approved with no problems. It was excluded from my insurance so we had to pay. Really very liitle pain.

I am halfway through the supervised diet. Once I complete that, everything gets sent to the insurance co. I hope that there is no problem in getting approved. I know a few people in our company (same insurance) who had WLS and didn't have any problem getting approved. I hope I am not the exception!

Well, I had the 2nd sleep study on the CPAP Saturday night. They will call me back when the machine is in and ready for pickup. Hopefully I will not need it for too long!!

I meet with Dr. Davis this month and we will go from there!

I had to do cash pay since my insurance excludes any weight loss surgery. I had all the medical needs to qualify.

Dr. Garth Davis wouldn't consider by pass and was 100% in agreement with the lapband. So now I have been banded for four days. I see him in two days.

My husband and I trusted my life with him and we were very comfortable. Surgery was at UGH.

The real friend and family will always be there for you and the others ...well keep one or too around to watch them eat their hearts out as you improve yourself. I'm 5'2 my highest weight was 250!!!! pre-op I was 238 and now I bounce between 221-224 so far, but I'm sure I'll see a drop in weight soon, hang in there! Hey! Big D, or Little G. for you MD? That's so cool.

I just completed my second month of the three month diet. I go back for my last visit with the dietician on Feb. 26!! Then I make the appt. to meet Dr. Davis. I got the results back from my sleep study and I do have sleep apnea. My doc is ordering me a CPAP machine, so hopefully this helps my chances of getting approved. My asthma is also getting worse.

I am so ready to start this. 4 weeks until my next check in and I HOPE IT IS SMOOTH SAILING FROM THERE. I think I will cry if I don't get approved!

Hello Shaxmom

I am from Houston (SE area), also. I 2 just started my process to hopefully will allow me to have the LB surgery. I went to my Family Dr this week to discuss the Lap Band with him. He thinks I would benefit from it and he has begun the 'referal' for obesity surgery to my insurance. I have to wait to hear from him to see what the next step is. I have heard great things about Dr. Davis and if my insurance accepts him then I believe I will be using him for my surgery(when approved). I know I have a long road ahead of me but I am SOOOOO ready to start my journey to a healtier and slimmer ME!

Good Luck!

Houston Native here, Magnolia to be exact..Northwestish outside Conroe. I am using Dr. Turnquest at Memorail Herman-The Woodlands. REALLY like him. I am trying to get scheduled for Feb 22. My ins approval only took 4 days, I prayed my A** off. I pray everyday but I really kicked it into overdrive for this. I truley feel that God has a plan for me, when I tried to have this done 2 years ago it did not work out and voila the next month I was unexpectedly prego with my 3rd baby so obviously it was not the right time. This time it's right and it feels so right.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
