JuneBugs '08 ONE year BANDiversary!!!
Hello Fellow JuneBugs! I have lost 61 lbs! My begining weight was 240lbs and I am currently at 179lbs. I was hoping to be at 175 by my BANDiversary but I don't think that is going to happen. My band date was June 6... that was my birthday present to myself last year, my birthday is June 7! Even though I didn't reach my BANDiversary goal I am VERY happy with the success I have had. I LOVE MY BAND... I would do it again in a HEARTBEAT! It has changed my life for the better. I find that I have so much more energy. I enjoy doing things that I didn't enjoy before. I love to SHOP... it's great to be in 'normal' size clothes and not have to go to the 'PLUS' section anymore. I hope everyone else has had great success!! ~Marie~

May sound crazy....
Hello Fellow June Bansters.... This morning I get up and get ready to come to work. I ironed my blouse last night and got my pants out of the bunches of clothes I just picked up from the cleaners. I already knew I was going to wear my brown Capri pants with the cuff on them. (I wore those 2 wks ago) Well, I get my top on and go to put my pants on… and they’re too big. They wouldn’t stay up. You’re probably saying that’s great, right? Well, deep inside I know it’s great but I have been so ‘bummed’ about it all morning. I had to grab other pair of pants (which are too big, also but manage to stay up) So, why am I feeling blue about this and not jumping up and down? I know… CRAZY!

Anyone Had Their 1st Fill?
Hello June Bandsters! I was just wondering if anyone has had their 1st fill yet. If so, how was it? Did it hurt? I'm not a BIG fan of needles and I have my first fill next week, 07/17/08... so I was just hoping to get some feedback from anyone who's had one done already! Thanks!

Wii Fit
I agree with you Tx Diva... it's to HOT in Texas to be outside trying to work-out / walk / jog. I have a WII FIT and I love it. I do about 30 - 40 mins everyday on it. I spent about 10 mins on the STEP and 2 rounds of the beginner boxing and then about 15 - 20 mins walking. It's so much fun... I love it!

Post Surgery check in here
Hello everyone! Just wanted to share my story with everyone.... I was banded on Friday, June 6th. I was scheduled to have surgery at 11:30 and it didn't happen until 4:00 pm. It was a good morning... sitting around waiting with my family and just talking. The hospital staff was really good and kept coming in to check with me to see if I needed anything. I would joke and ask them to bring me a cheese burger because I was starving and the laughed and said they would get right on it. (I'm still waiting for the cheesburger). On to surgery... they finally come to take me to pre-op area and once there they started asking me question... letting me go to the restroom one last time... Dr. Garth came in and talked to me. IV was put in and let me tell you... 5 days out and it still HURTS! After sitting in pre-op for about 30 mins... it was finally MY TURN! I said my farewells to my cheeseburgers and fries (since I knew that I wouldn't be having any of those for some time) and my family and was wheeled away. I don't remember much after getting my 'happy medicine'... I remember having to move off of the bed they wheeled me in to the operating table...they put a gas mask on me and all I remember was a nurse waking me up in the recovery room. Once I was settled in my room and awake... I got up to use the restroom and walked around. On a scale of 1 - 10... my pain was about a 2. I had very little to no pain. I was taken to do my swallow test and came back and walked somemore. I was on my way home about 10:30 that night. I was given pain medicine but I have only used it once. I haven't had much gas pain (thank goodness), I still haven't opened my box of Gas-X strips. I've lost a total of 13 lbs since my pre-op appt on 05/29/08 and hope the losing continues. I started on mushies today and it's been GREAT! My port incision has been my most difficult one. Very sore and sometimes painful but nothing Tylenol can't handle. Today has been easier for me to get up and down from the sofa/chair and in and out of the bed. I almost feel normal (except that I can't bend, lift and am still 'weak') I'm going back to work tomorrow for a couple of hours...I know I won't make the whole day so I'm starting back light. To all of you who have surgeries comeing up... GOOD LUCK to you all! It's really been a good experience and I'm so glad that I'm on the BANDSTER side!

Hi From Houston!
Hi Aimerus! I'm in Houston, also and was just banded on Friday, June 6th at University General Hospital. I am also a bit hungry and a bit weak. I've been real lucky and haven't had much gas pain... I've been walking and walking hoping not to have much gas pain. My port area is my sorest. I start my mushie phase tomorrow... and I'm so READY! How are you getting your Protein in for the day? I seem to be having difficulty doing that.

Thursday, June 5th...I'm sooo nervous!!! HELP!
:biggrin:mekadig - Congratulations on getting the green light for your surgery. I will be banded on Friday, June 6th and am getting very nervous! There is a lady here at work (whom I haven't told I'm getting the band) that had Gastric Bypass several years ago and she is SO ANTI-BAND! She nerver has anything positive to say about it and is always (what I believe) making up stories about people she knows with the band that have had nothing but problems and don't loose any weight with it. She claims she has never heard of a 'success' story from lap-band patients! I plan to prove her WRONG! Don't listen to what the gastric patients is telling you... if you believe that you will succeed.. than you WILL SUCCEED! :cursing: Think positive thoughts... we're all going to be successful! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! ~Marie~
