Anyone Had Their 1st Fill?

Recommended Posts

Hello June Bandsters!

I was just wondering if anyone has had their 1st fill yet. If so, how was it? Did it hurt? I'm not a BIG fan of needles :) and I have my first fill next week, 07/17/08... so I was just hoping to get some feedback from anyone who's had one done already!

Thanks!

If it helps, Dr. Davis assured me it was quick and not a big deal (LOL wondering how he know this exactly being so lean...). Anyway I did see lidocaine on the table when I had my follow up visit so at least they numb it. I am just like you and I just keep telling myself how it will be worth it!

They do use lidocaine. Also, for your first fill do not look at the needle until you realize how much it doesn't hurt. That needle is huge, lol.

I have had a fill on July 2nd. I was kinda afraid, but it was ok. My port is still kinda tender, but all I felt was a sting and then a little burning. I could hear some of the Fluid going in, kinda like a gurgle. It was not bad at all. I will get another fill on the 16th.

My first fill is July 25th and I can't wait to start losing. I have read over and over that it is no big deal and that it is so quick that it's over before you know it. Did anybody else just stop losing before their first fill. I was banded June 21st and I lost 15 lbs but when I went for my 2 week post op check up she said I had lost only 2 lbs. I hadn't weighed myself. Yikes, I hope my first fill will be like Cathchats and I will notice a restriction. The thought of losing weight and gaining control of my eating has definitely over ridden any fear I might have of the pain of the fill. Was there anything you ate before the first fill that helped you feel full?

Just had my first fill today. I was sooooo scared! It turned out to be not as bad as I was expecting. It was just the unknown and stupid me, I watched the fill videos on U-tube first! Dumb!! I am back to liquid for 2 days and then softs for 2 days. I'm already hungry! Need to get my toosh up off this coach and make one. I'm sooo scared something is going to get stuck that I am sipping liquids so slowly....Guess I have to be patient.

Hi, I just had my first fill this afternoon. I was able to get down 3oz of Water before I left the doctors. But now I can't get anything down, I am on liquids for today but so far I can't even get water down without throwing up.

my first fill is in 10 days. I lost 5 lbs the first two weeks and now about 2, I feel I can eat more than I thought I would, but I know there is no restriction, but still I have to stop myself from eating more. Can't wait for my first fill I love the weight coming off - don't we all!

Hi, I have a 10cc AP Band. When I had my surgery the Dr put in 1.6cc, today he put in another 2cc. I didn't feel any discomfort during the fill. But tonight I keep throwing up slime and can't even drink Water. I was able to drink water after the fill but tonite nothing is going down.

Was wondering how your fill went? I had my surgery on June 17th, and lost about 25 lbs in the first 4 weeks, but it is slowly creeping back. I feel like I can eat everything. I have my first fill on the 29th of July so it will be interesting to see if I can't get back on track. Boy, I sure hope so!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
