Holding off on fills to save them for later

Recommended Posts

Ok does it make sense to hold off on fills and save them for later?

I have a 4cc band with 2cc already in it. My weight loss is slowing down, but hasn't completely stopped. I think I've resolved my emotional eating issues, as I haven't done it since the beginning of October.

I'm working out and am loosing slower, 2-3 pounds a week. So is it okay to not go for a fill? I'm scheduled for one in the next weeks.

Has anyone taken a break from getting fills? What did your dr say? Also has anyone used up all of their fills in the beginning and regretted it later on?

I guess my concern is that I don't want to be at 4cc in a 4cc band and still not be at or close to goal.

Thanks,

Leena

Leena, it comes down to 2 things. Weight loss and hunger. If you are losing 2-3 lbs per week and aren't hungry that is perfect. If you are hungry you may need a slight tweak.

Julie is absolutely right. You drive the car...if you need a fill-get one. If you don't want one then don't! Until recently I never let myself be filled too much because I didn't want to be fully restricted...I wanted to prove to myself that I was in control. So, it's your call...there's no right or wrong way to do it!

Thanks so much. I canceled my appoitnment for this week and am on the schedule for the 24th for a fill if I need one.

It seems the more Water I drink the more restricted I become. Sounds wierd to me, but I don't mind staying hydrated if it means better restriction.

I have held off from having fills for the past 4 months because I was able to lose 2lbs a week on my own with exercise and diet. Now the loss is slowing and halting so i am going in for a fill this afternoon. I am hoping this is what will get me going again. My doctor has been fine with it because I was still losing and thinks it is a smart idea.

Well 2-3 pounds seems a little slow after the 1st week post-op I lost 20 pounds and the 2nd I lost 10. So 2-3 is a whole lot slower than 20 pounds.

I knew going into it that 1-2 weeks was what I could expect to loose. But I am religious about exercising so I know I can loose more than 1-2 on most weeks. I've always exercised, my big problem prior to lap-band was eating large large portions.

Ok who told you what you were going to lose in the first 1 or 2 weeks? Because after surgery and before your first fill is the healing time. Don't expect to lose weight so quickly just because that's you were told. Everyone loses at different rates and some people don't really lose weight until after their first fill.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
