I went to Dr. Aceves. I like him a great deal. You said you don't live far, are you in AZ or CA? If you are in AZ we meet monthly for lunch and such, many of his Phx patients. You are welcome to join us. We are due for a bandster lunch anyway.

I was correcting some misinformation recently and I'll direct you to that post, it gives some info you might be interested in regarding Dr. A:

Hello wasabubblebutt;

I just love your name...that is tooo cute. Thank you so much for the information about Dr. Aceves. I have a date for February and I want January to fly by so I can join the "losers". You asked where I am located, I am in CA, however, I use to live in AZ and have friends there. When I visit this summer, I am gonna IM you to see if you all are meeting.... I need to do more research to see if I can find a support group like that. I will keep you posted on my journey....

There is a group in CA and they are Dr. A patients. I don't know exactly where in CA but they post on Dr. A's message board. Are you posting there? If not, you should. It's a great place to meet others in your area.

Ahhh, my ID. I used to be BubbleButt then I lost my butt so I changed it to WasABB. :)

This might be rude...but I am a self pay and wanted to know the difference between going Mexico and having it in the states. Would someone mind letting me know how much it costs. A priviate message would be fine....

Thanks Tons!!

Dr. Aceves in Mexico is 7800. All the places I have researched in California were between 16,000 and 21,000. It was not only the price, I have talked to a few people on line and via phone and this is the decision I have chosen to go with in February:clap2:

Thank you everyone that has posted here about Dr. A. I continue to read and see the same positive comments about him, which helps to calm me down a great deal. I will go to Dr. A's site and find the ca group. Thanks for that suggestion.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

        So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

        That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
