Hi everyone, I had my surgery 11/14. I feel pretty good truth be told. Day 15 still on full liquids. I have struggled with some Water nausea, but no problem with the full liquids until yesterday and I drank a banana shake from Premier Protein. It took me 3 hours total to choke it down, and then I felt full for hours, as if it wouldn't leave my stomach. I couldn't drink Water, I could not swallow. I was only able to get 38 oz of liquid in yesterday total. Today I decided to go back to my Unjury Protein and steer clear of premixed drinks. Anyone else have any issues with Premier? I used them before the surgery just fine.

I was wondering if someone could give a sample of what their meal plan looks like for when they go into pureed. Thanks- Melissa

I've been on puréed for the past two weeks. My physician has me doing 3-4 puréed each day 1/4 cup each. I vary between tuna, canned chicken, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, hamburger and oatmeal. I had surgery on 11/13 and will be transitioning to soft foods Monday 12/4

I had mine on November 20. My surgeon had me go from clear liquids to Protein Shakes and broth on the 3rd day after, as long as I could tolerate it without getting sick, but had me hold off on non-clear Soups or other creamy drinks until today. I've been able to keep down plain greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and egg drop Soup since Saturday, and part of a scrambled egg today, even though I jumped the gun a little on that. I'm still waiting a couple more days before attempting softened meats.

Definitely stick to what your surgeon/doctor says, and take it really slowly when introducing something new. If you have a bad reaction, wait 2-3 days before attempting it again. They warned me beef can be harder to tolerate at first compared to something like canned/pureed tuna or chicken, and may require a couple more weeks.

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has suffered with light headiness? Just a bit floaty can’t explain it! I’m 5 weeks post op!

For me it was twofold. The change that made the biggest difference was increasing my electrolyte intake. Lucozade/Gatorade and the like can help with the dehydration and electrolyte imbalance some, but look for other electrolyte supplements. In the US, there's a brand of drink powder called liquid IV that has helped me. More of the needed minerals and less of the artificial sugars and flavoring, and there may be something similar where you are (I noticed UK beside your user name).

That being said, make sure that whatever fluids you are taking aren't diuretics that will cause dehydration. coffee, tea, and drinks with caffeine can cause your body to flush more fluids out, and take electrolytes with it! If you do have to have a drink like that, be sure to balance it out with 2x the volume in Water throughout the day. Like if you have 250ml of tea, try to aim for an additional 500ml more in water afterwards.

The other change for me, while not as dramatic in reducing the dizziness, was that I was on medicine for high blood pressure. I met with my physician and he reduced my dose in half, and that seemed to eliminate the light headed feeling I had when bending down to tie my shoes. Other medications can cause this when its dosed in higher quantities than what your body needs, so as you lose weight, these may need to be adjusted.

Good luck and hopefully you can get this resolved soon!

Mine was the 16th and recently started losing weight but before the scale started moving I started seeing my clothes fitting a little looser. I definitely don’t have the same appetite but still getting used to how to tell when I’m satisfied before feeling sick but it does get better each day. I have finally had the energy to start going to the gym again!

After starting soft diet on the 15th I got sharp agonising pains every time I ate. After two days I went back to purée. Saw the surgeon on the 21st and I’m back to liquids. I’ve aggravated my oesophagus and it’s become inflamed. So now no matter what goes in it hurts. Even deep breathing and inside hiccups. I went up to the hospital last night as I’m dehydrated and I was told to drink more and see surgeon. Which surgeon isn’t open till 2nd. it hurts so much to drink, I’m on pain meds and pain Patches.
surgery #5 is scheduled for the 11th jan. The day before my birthday.

@Char V - Sorry to hear you've had to deal with all of that. Hoping they can resolve it for you quickly!

@sisyfitri - Hope you're doing well! I know what you mean about the appetite. My head keeps telling me to eat what I used to, but my stomach definitely throttles my intake if I overdo it. I'm getting better estimating what I can eat in situations where I can't measure, but still haven't perfected it yet.

@ZeeGee - Glad to hear things are moving along well for you! My surgery date was Nov 20, and I was hoping to start hitting the gym with the rest of the New Years Resolution folks next week, but caught covid on Christmas Eve and still super weak. Hoping to get my strength back soon and get back at it later in January.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
