Started my Pre Op Diet today! My Bypass is 9/12/23! I’m excited! My diet is a struggle today. But hoping I figure it out soon. I have researched and researched on my surgery so I can have knowledge on what is going to happen. I’m only 24 and my parents are a bit scared. But I’m just ready for a new life!

Started mine a couple days ago. Had a difficult time at first, but it's much better today. Hang in there, we'll make it! My Sleeve is on the 11th.

Met with my nutritionist about the preop diet today. My diet is 3-5 shakes a day with 2-4 cups of nonstarchy green veggies allowed. Not looking forward to it at all. Can't believe surgery is less than a month out

On my 4th day of the liquid diet, it's getting easier not to want to devour everything within reach. Tired of sweets though had to go get some Bone Broth to break up the monotony. I just got my Proteins I ordered from here today so yay for some variety. Must say that the Bariatric Pal chocolate Coconut is so amazingly good (my lunch today). A little lighter on the Protein side at 15 grams but it tastes like an almond joy sans the almonds. That sweet chocolate and coconut flavor. I just realized why it's so sweet. I didn't think to look at carb counts when I bought them I just said oooo that sounds good, got to have it, and clicked the buttons.

I've lucked out as the girl who works in my office trying to put on weight will buy any of the proteins I don't like off of me so they're at least not going in the trash. My husband is going to want to shoot me when he sees this box of everything I bought last week from the website. It's a good thing we have separate bank accounts or else he'd have a fit at the amount of stuff I've bought prepping for this surgery.

Meet my surgeon for a final pre-op appointment tomorrow as well as doing some labs and another appointment with the pre-op department at mayo so will be in the car the majority of the day tomorrow. Not looking forward to that as often as I've got to go to the bathroom with all these fluids. May be a miserable trip, bad enough I'm having to make it alone. This is where I feel sorry for myself for being a loner and not having a friend I can drag along with me.

So I'm open to making new friends! And hope all of our September's go amazingly!

11 Days!? The last few months have flown by and it's been a pretty amazing ride once I got placed with the right physicians.

My surgery date is 9/25 and I’m getting the gastric sleeve. I had my work up appointment this past Monday where they went over everything, explained the pre-op diet etc. Now that it’s September I’m getting nervous, but I’m also excited. My pre-op diet starts on the 10th in which I have to have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and then I can have some chicken or fish and a veggie for dinner. Ugh this is going to be hard. Did anyone have last supper syndrome before they had to start the pre op?

Hey everyone who's recently or will be getting in september, if anyone is a fan of pumpkin spice latte flavor I found the most amazing delightful Protein Drink. I used to love love getting the white chocolate caramel pumpkin pie mocha frappes and this tastes like EXACTLY like it!! I was so skeptical that it wouldn't be good so I only bought a 4 pack but I have to buy more asap. I found it at Walmart. While I was on the liver shrinking diet I LOVED the cafe latte flavor from Premier Protein but after surgery and coming home I find it tastes very eggy and cannot stand it anymore. So glad to find something I enjoy again taste-wise.

Also-- I felt super bad and guilty for eating a whole bowl of oatmeal with a banana and was thinking, "oh maybe the surgery didn't work for me :( i'm ruining it" etc, BUT then I had to take into account and remember that I used to eat 4-6 packets of oatmeal and still feel starving. It's a mind over matter game at this point for me and it's not the easiest to recognize that it's OKAY for me to have things. ♥ Anyone else going through this?

Hey folks! I'm scheduled for gastric sleeve September 15th and am getting anxious 😬

I'm curious if anyone has found a good alternative to store-bought sugar-free popsicles? Locally I am only finding red and orange colors that are sugar-free, and they all have a minimum of 7 g of carbs each and I'm supposed to be sticking to under 25 g

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
