3 mo out, how is everyone?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just thought I would do a status check. How is everyone doing? Is everyone on their 3rd fill yet?

I guess technically I am on my 3rd fill. 1st fill ok, 2nd fill under revision surgery, then an unfill immediately after. Now I just got my "3rd" fill this week. And let me tell you that I am restricted like a mofo!!!! I can only eat a few bites of anything. It's ridiculously small portions but I like it.

I also have started spinning classes at the gym and I love them!!!

I must admit I have been a little dissapointed in the slow weight loss for me. But, I had an unusual problem and was unrestricted for a long time and had to go back through surgery, so hopefully the weight will start falling off now!!

I am doing ok. I have only had 2 fills so far and sometimes I can only eat a little and sometimes a lot. I am not losing as fast as others, but I am happy with what I have lost. The only thing that is weird is that I have not changed pant sizes at all. I have lost 17.5 inches total, but still wear the same size. My pants are loose and look funny on me, but when I try on a smaller size I am just not there yet.

I was wondering how everyone's scars are looking at this point. I have darker skin and I still have really dark spots.

Good luck to everyone and have a Merry Christmas!!

I have only had one fill. I'm kind of nervous, my 1st fill was horrible. Like 10 sticks and they still didn't get it. I had to go to the radiologist. It sucked.

You guys give me encouragement.

my goal for Jan, 8 pounds, and a fill ???

I just got my 3rd fill yesterday! I have 5cc in my 10cc band. My fill doctor only put 1cc in my band this time, since Christmas is so close, she didn't want to overfill and run the chance of my having problems during Christmas. Right now, I don't feel a difference, but I'm still on liquids for another 2 days.

My first fill was awful, it hurt so bad. It took a while for her to get it, but my last two fills have been great, I didn't feel a thing. I don't think she put enough of the deadening agent in me the first time. Ask them to bump it up?

Hi Mandi and other Sept 07 bandsters: I am in your group. Having trouble swallowing air when I drink, I think. Lots of restriction that didn't come until 2 weeks after 3rd fill. Have lost 32 lbs. as of today. Bought 42g tubes of liquid Protein so I won't have to drink so much b/c it hurts--don't want to throw up. Trying hot tea b/f I eat/drink anything. Cancelled fill #4 for 26th b/c of so much restriction. I am learning every day. Eating with anyone is a challenge.

Hey everyone, thanks for the update. I also wanted to say that since my 3rd fill, I have lost 9lbs in 1 week! IT seems like it was just the thing that I needed for my body to respond to all this darn exercise I have been doing.

I can only eat a couple bites and I have to stop. Not much, but I don't care. This Christmas will be interesting bc I am going to my in-laws in FL and EVERYTHING we do focuses around eating. and I can't eat much. plus not all of my extended family knows I had surgery. oh well.

I also figured something out about the fills... I go to a after-care center and some of them are better at fills than others. When I got in the room, i told the nurse that I didn't want to see who I saw 2 times ago. He then told me that the most requested fill dr was "dr. soandso" and he said I could request her every time. Soooo... I did and I will...she is so good at finding the port. It is quick and painless.

I am down 19 lbs since surgery on Sept 21. Initially I didn't lose anything and was battling hunger. I got my first fill 7 weeks after surgery and restriction lasted only 2 weeks. I got a second fill the Tuesday after Thanksgiiving. I had some restriction, then about a week ago it really kicked in and now I have to be really careful or I will PB. I am happy finally because for a while I thought this was another weightloss attempt I had failed at. It took 2 months after surgery for me to lose weight and inches. I was feeling discouraged because I was going to the gym everyday and doing everything right. I guess for some it just takes a while. Presently it seems that I lose a half pound every other day. I hope this helps those of you having a difficult time with the loss.

I am down 29 lbs. Surgery was Sept. 25th. I have had 3 fills. No real restriction but banding has cut down on wanting to eat. Never would of believed that.

You all are doing wonderful. I just joined this site today. It is wonderful to have someone to talk to about this. I had no clue as to how I was doing. Some of you are really taking off the weight. I have to do something to get myself into the gym. I have had only 1 fill. I want something to eat...like all the time. Christmas Holiday has scheduling tight. I can't get in to get a fill until 1/4/08. I am a little scared because it did hurt a bit, but I know I need to get it done. Great Job yall!!!

PS How or what do you cut to get the ticker to get on the bottom of your emails? When you do it does the numbers show up in the pre post box or the actual ticker pic?

Hello! I just did get my first fill (12-18). I have lost 40 pounds since surgery date and probably could have gotten by without a fill but I was starting to eat more without feeling full and I didn't want to get carried away during the holidays. I've had trouble eating several times since then but then again = it's all about restriction, right? I thought I was restricted before but now I know what it means to be restricted. I'm schedule to go back to the doctor January 24th but don't believe I'll get another fill for a while!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
