Too tight after fill - anything I can do to prevent defill?

Recommended Posts

So I just had another fill about 7 hours ago and right now I'm PBing spit because it's not going down. Not only is it gross, I can't fall asleep because I keep having to get up and PB. I was in a hurry to get home and didn't drink my Water before leaving the doctor's office (lesson learned!).

Is there anything I can do to prevent a defill? Should I try hot liquids? Will it loosen up in a few days (though I'm not sure I can wait that long). Either way, I'll be calling my doctor first thing in the morning.

What I've discovered so far: sleeping sideways, on your stomach, on your back and sitting up DOESN'T help! Drinking hot tea doesn't help. A very hot shower did feel good but not sure if it's helping yet.

I can't wait until my doctor's office opens up!

Sorry to hear that this happened to you. I think once you reach the point of not being able to swallow your spit you need a de-fill. The more you PB, the more it irritates the stomach and probably aggravates the situation with swelling.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'm sure there are things...even if you have to grit your teeth and just take it...

but....

what if the restriction kicks in ...in a few days. You are going to be in a world of hurt. (so many say that after a fill it takes a while to take effect)

Go for a slight unfill...should be free of charge.

Congrats on the weight loss.

I'm free again! Gosh, that was a yucky past 24 hours. When the doctor pulled out some saline, I heard a big gulp, gulp, gulp, and felt liquid move into my stomach. Sweet relief!!!

This time we refilled while I drank Water (and kept my eyes away from the needle sticking out of my port!). I feel a little irritated from all the PBing but hopefully I didn't harm my band.

Lesson learned: Always drink your Water BEFORE leaving the doctor's office.

I personally have to be on liquids for 2 days after a fill, then soft foods for 2 weeks, im really tight right now but i like it bc im losing at a good rate. I CAN NOT eat food in the morning, i dont know why but all i can do is drink, then as the day goes on my ability to eat increases. Trying starting your day off with softer foods.

my band is very tight right now, had a first fill two days ago and it hurt like hell but now it seems to have settled, however I have not been able to keep down any food right now but have caught a virus that may be to blame for that.

I'm either still swollen from the overfill or am just filled a little too tight. I can only keep down liquids right now. I can live with this for now as long as I can still get Water and Protein Shakes in.

I had a fill 2 days ago and I am way too tight. I can't even keep Water down. I am drinking tea right now, and drank about 2 oz. I can feel it sitting on top of the stoma. Within time, I will throw it up. I threw up white foam last night twice. (And my new boyfriend stayed over for the first time. How embarrassing!) ~ He was very supportive though. Thank god! I think I may have to go back tomorrow, to Mexico, for an unfill.

I'm also kinda pissed off cause the doc filled me with 2.3. That's a lot for a 4cc band. She said its 'full'. I'm not too happy about that.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
