Hi Peeps!
New member here. I have started my pre-op requirements ( I have Aetna). My expected surgery date is May 2. However, I am seeing everywhere I will need a recommendation letter for my PCP?? My surgeon hasn’t brought this up yet, but I think I will ask because I do not have a current PCP. Anyone ever experienced this? Can an OB/GYN account for one? Looking for guidance.

I was in this position also. I used ZocDoc to make a pcp appointment with a dr that took my insurance and used the Appt to establish them as a pcp as well. They wrote the letter no problem based on that first appointment and was accepted and approved by my insurance

OB/GYNs, internal medicine people, and pediatricians are all considered PCPs. So yes - a letter from an OB/GYN should work. Although if you want to be absolutely sure, check with your insurance company or the bariatric clinic (whichever one keeps bringing it up in their literature)

Thank you. I’ll definitely get to the bottom of it.

oh - not that this affects you, but to someone else who might wonder - I forgot to include family practice physicians. They're also considered PCPs.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
