Still uncomfortable

Recommended Posts

Hi all ! I had the rouex n Y done on 9/15. Never took anything for pain just Tylenol. But I am having pai. On my left side ,which yes I know can be gas from the lapriscopic surgery. It I am passing gas regularly and am still having the uncomfortableness right where my left ribcage is. I am day 8 post op today and I'm just worried it's not gas , it's a leak or something. Dont get me wrong its not a contant pain there are some positions where i can get comfortable. Bit the more i walk or move the worse the pain gets rhen its hard ro take a deep breathe without it getting worse. What do you think I should do? Did anyone else go through this ? Everything I've read says the co2 leaves the body within 48 hours w inch is why am so concerned . Thank you !

Have you tried using a heating pad? I found that helped me quite a bit.

Are you having issues with Constipation? That may be behind some of the pain you are experiencing.

When in doubt though, call your surgeons office for advice.

Yes constipated , but then again haven't eaten anything in a week so .... nothing there to get out . I am not getting the protien shakes down . I can try a heating pad just not sure why it keeps happening or what it means or how long before it's supposed to go away . Or what's normal and what's Not.

Leaks are almost always caught before you even leave the hospital, and you'd be really sick if it were that. It may still be gas pains - I think I had mine for a few days. Check with your clinic, though...if nothing else, for peace of mind.

Do you feel ANY better? My thought is that you should feel a little bit better each day. If your 8 days out and still feel gas pain like day one I would definitely call your team.

The gas they pump into you during surgery fills the cavity around your organs & not so much into your tummy so most is not passed by farting or burping. Apparently most gets absorbed into the Water in your blood & is eventually breathed out. The more you move the more that gas moves & moving helps it escape faster. But, as it often gets trapped under the diaphragm which causes the discomfort & shoulder pain, it hurts more when you move.

It’s not uncommon to experience gas pain for a good week after your surgery (I did after my gall removal). But if it persist without improving or gets worse contact your surgeon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
