Hi

This is my first post on here so not sure how this all works lol. I am due to have gastric bypass surgery on the 26th May and I'm on day 6 (almost completed) of the liver shrinking diet of 3 pints of milk and 2 yogurts... i feel so weak and hungry. Its hell!

3 pints of just milk and yogurt? that provides barely any nutrients or Protein I have never heard of that type of liquid pre op diet. For most people you do Protein Shakes. typically 3-5 a day. of course all surgeons are different but yours seems a bit odd...

Hang in! My surgery is 5.19.22 and I feel weak and tired daily. I was able to do raw or steamed veggies which helped me a lot.. I have been napping more and noticing slight headaches. My original day was 5.26.22 then I was moved up. Keep pushing..

All the Protein Shakes are really good and sugarfree Popsicles helped out

There are a number of different pre surgical diets but you must follow the one you are given. I’ve noticed a few UK members have been on a milk diet.

Three pints of milk provides 48g of Protein plus a high protein yoghurt can provide 15-20g so about the usually recommended 60g of protein. The broader range of nutrients is a worry but your doctor would be aware of that.

The headaches & weakness comes from cutting out carbs, sugar, caffeine - breaking the addictions & removing the stimulants (caffeine & sugar) from your diet. The first 5-7 days are usually the hardest but it gets easier.

Yes its hell, I had 3 weeks of non carb veg and lots of milk. I hated the process but needed the outcome. The English surgeons don't tend to use Protein Shakes. There is plenty of Protein in milk without the awful additives found in those drinks. It each to their own. I would contact your team and tell them you are struggling and ask if there is anything they can do to help. Let me know how you get on

Thankyou for your reply. I'm taking good high quality Multi Vitamins too as was told to by my team.

It would be easier if i liked milk lol but i know it will all be worth it.

7 days almost done, 7 days to do... I'm halfway

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
