Beating the ODDS 100% Goal. Help needed

Recommended Posts

:help:I am scheduled for banding in January, 08. I want to be successful and lose a 100% of the weight. This is about 110 lbs. If you have lost this amount of weight please share your method. I have read that the average loss is about 55%. I want to do much better. Your advice will be an inspiration.

Hi There,

You can see the stats, my goal is also 110 pounds. I'm 80 down now and I'm plugging away. I think the most important ingredient is exercise. Most folks that aren't to successful admitt they aren't getting enough exercise.

Going into it with eyes wide open and goal in mind, I 'm sure you'll do great!!

If you want it badly enough you will attain it. Call it your mantra..."100%" or what ever.

It's mine. I refuse to be average. I'm above average in intelligence, looks and personality. I'll be above average in this regard as well.

If you don't say it out loud and believe it yourself than your chances of getting it are slim.

So like Hip Hop Harry says, "If you believe it, you can achieve it!"

I am almost 50lbs down in a little over 4 months without full restriction. That means I have lost about 45% of my excess weight already. The statistics say that I should only lose like 10 - 20 more lbs and that will certainly not be true in my case! I think that you should know that it can be done but it is not a sure thing - I keep reminding myself of the work that I need to put in too!

I am considered an average loser. I have losat 65 lbs and 65% of my goal weight the first 18 months. My doctor said it takes 2-3 years to typically reach goal. You may end up an average loser at 1-2 lb per week or you may lose more rapidly. It just depends on whether or not you exercise that much. In my case, I do not exercise religiously. Good luck. You can do it!

I don't think it ever really occurred to me that I couldn't lose 100% (or more) of my excess weight. I just did it.

All I did was had faith in myself , ate right, worked out, and saw my doctor on a regular basis.

if you go into this thinking that you will only lose 50% of your excess body weight in the first year- that's likely all you will lose

if you go into this thinking the band will do all the work for you - you won't likely lose much

I fully agree with those who state they feel there is no limit. If you recognize this is a tool to assist you with doing the work necessary by limiting volume- you still need to watch what you eat and exercise- you can lose every bit of excess weight.

That's my plan!

good luck!

I have lost more than my orginal goal loss in anout 9 mnths..

my strategies include..

1: I dont rely on the band. Its tool for me not a mthod..Ive had 3 fills since Feb 07..I dont keep it as tight as possible- This is more about change in lifestyle than being able to eat one carrot and be full

2. Exercise- I did an hour of karate and an hour of arobics twice a week. Now I do 300 crunchs a day and Im gonna start running on Mon

3. I ask myself before I eat..is it worth it? Sometimes the junk food is..but not usually

good luck..message me any questions

You can do it if you want to do it. Trust me just look at my ticker. I have lost well over 50% of my excess weight in 7 months. Just eat right and exercise. Walk walk and walk some more.

I'm coming up on my 50% weight loss. I will surpass it!

Hell, I can't hardly eat anymore, I DREAD eating.. I don't know why the weight loss would stop.

I told my doc going into this, I will break the statistics he covered in his seminar. He said I had the right personality for the band. Not to say I don't have my doubts, and bad days.. but overall, I am determined to beat the odds.

I'm not worried. I went through a brief moment or two when a hit a plateu, after I had regained ten poudns, before my last fill. But then I thought about why I wasn't losing weight and I realised, honestly, that it had to do with Protein and also with behavorial issues and bad choices. Sometimes it gets easy to make bad choices and that become a habit, so you have to break that habbit. Surround yourself with good choices instead and then you feel good confidence wise too. I've never been in a rush to lose the weight either. I know I'll lose 100 percent. I'm still figuring it all out, so I might plateu sometimes and occasionally regain a few pounds and so forth. But I feel so different...

A friend on here has a line in her signature that says it all---and I am paraphrasing here!!

Whether you think you can or you think you can't---you're right.

Set your mind to it, it is entirely possible, many have already done it, and many of us are in the process of doing it! It CAN be done!!!

Good Luck to you!!!

Kat

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
