Advice for Sleeve Surgery February 28th

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys :)

I’m scheduled to have the sleeve done on Monday! Any advice? Any last minute items I should purchase?

Make sure you have a change of compression stockings. The hospital will give you one set to take with you. You really should wear them for the first week or so to prevent clots. Make sure you get up and walk, walk, walk as soon as they say you can in the hospital. Most likely within a couple hours of getting out of the recovery room. You will be glad you did. Force liquids....

I have posted it here several times so you may have seen it already but I bought an extra long phone charger cord on Amazon and was very thankful I had that and a pair of pajama pants to wear around the hospital.

To take to hospital: comb, phone/charger, chapstick, toothbrush/toothpaste

To have at home: sugar free popsicles, Gatorade Zero, Protein Shakes

Hi Surgery Twin! 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼💪🏽🏽🏽 I’m headed to the losers bench the 28th as well. Grady cat is correct. I have that stuff too. I was tempted to stock up on other foods but I remembered that my taste might change and I won’t like what I like now so I only got a little bit of things Protein wise. I stocked up on full liquid stuff that my son can eat too if i don’t like it.

my hospital bag will be very light. The nurse said as much on the preop call as well so don’t take a lot.

You've gotten great advice so far and I don't have any practical advice to add. I would like to say, enjoy the process as much as you can. I know it sounds weird but when I had my sleeve surgery 7 years ago I rushed things and kept thinking about the next step. For my revision to bypass on Tuesday the 1st, I treated myself to new pajama pants to take to the hospital, I bought exciting flavors of Protein Shakes. My backpack is going to be light... Phone, long charging cord, lip balm, my noise cancelling headphones to help block out some of the hospital noises, my 3 ring binder of surgery info, pajama pants and not much else.

I've had 2 endoscopies and another unrelated procedure in the past few months and I did much better with letting myself relax.

Thanks so much everyone! I’m happy to report that surgery went very well! I came home Tuesday and have very minor discomfort. I’ve just been focusing on hydration and protein:)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
