Drinking water gets tiring! 😪

Recommended Posts

So I am wondering do you still have to sip Water a year or two post-Op?

It really gets tiring having to sip water every mins. I am hoping it isn't a permanent thing and I can drink more as months or years pass by. Do share your experience plz.

Also, plain water isn't working for me even if iced. I can only do may be 500mlsof plain water. Rest I flavor it. Any other ideas on how to consume water?

I am 8 Almost 9 months out and I can pretty well drink the same as I did pre surgery. It gets much better as time goes by. By 3 months I could down a drink within like 5 or 10 minutes. Also I don’t think it’s a problem that you add flavoring to your Water. There are those who think that artificial sweeteners are bad but I believe most bariatric programs say that they are okay. I don’t drink anything but crystal light.

Some people can get back to chugging liquids some can’t. It’s all very individual. I’m a two good swallows & that’s all at a time person. Take a third & my restriction kicks in. So I don’t have to sip but I still drink regularly. It’s good though cause I never feel that ‘oh my God I’m so thirsty’.

I drink while I’m driving. I drink if on the phone. I drink during the night to get my daily fluids in. I keep a glass beside me all day long. I find it easier to drink from a proper glass or cup than bottles or sippy cups (though I have a bottle in the car & beside my bed) .

All fluids count so you don’t just have to drink plain Water. I used to drink lots of water but since surgery it can taste almost heavy. I let sparkling water go flat & add a large glass to my Fluid rotation every day. The minerally taste is a nice change to plain water. I also have a large mug of green tea & add extra milk to my porridge. I used to include a high Protein yoghurt drink in my rotation (fluid & protein - double win) but they don’t make it anymore - devastated!

Yeh I am able to do two good swallows too, good amount. But I still have to continuously drink otherwise I don't get enough fluids in.

I can't do room temperature water, has to be chilled. So I always carry a bottle around with ice.

We are also to have 0.5 cup of milk daily so that goes towards Fluid. And I also do buttermilk made from high protein ice landic yogurt. So I do make my fluid requirement but it still gets tiring to continuously drinking. Hopefully with time it gets better.

Yeh I use artificial sweeteners like crystal light and two other brands which are similar to crystal light. Zero calories type. But flavored water also gets boring after a while eap8 cuz you don't end up liking all the flavors.

I also always fill stuffed cuz of continuous drinking which makes it even more tiring at times 😪

When can a take a regular drink? I had the Sleeve done on 1/13 and am currently on the post-op liquid diet. I am doing well with the sips and drinking liquid 1 or 2 ounces at a time. The max I have drunk at one time thus far is 2oz. I feel (and WANT) to drink more. I believe if I drink too much at a time it may "come up" but I am sure there is a middle point. Any suggestions? ? I have not attempted to drink more so I really don't know what would happen when and if my body rejects it.

I mixed 1/2 sugar free Gatorade with Water the first few weeks. Hot herbal teas are also great and I just started crystal light a few days ago but can only drink one a day I prefer the taste of plain Water personally but I have spring water that comes into my house not city water. Maybe try buying bottled water see if that helps Also I get the big body armor light and drink a few ounces of that a day. My Dr and Nutritionist said it was okay to do. I have to drink cold cold with pebble ice except tea I like it hot from the sink not to hot but hot.

no thank goodness, this caused me distress early on too but thanks goodness i can drink a whole lot more now and easily most days, still have days like today where i just dont feel like drinking. I add a dash of anything to my water to make it sit better and also dissolving Vitamin tabs are a good addition

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
