Antibiotics absorbed differently?

Recommended Posts

Developed a bladder infection this weekend with great pain and discomfort. Spent the day at a local urgent care clinic and was given a strong antibiotic to take twice a day. Will it absorb well and do their job with the new MGB?

Sorry to hear, remember to drink lots of Water to get the system flushed.

As for absorption of your antibiotics, the science is somewhat unclear, unfortunately. The review linked below states that some antibiotics seem to be absorbed just fine, some require closer monitoring.

I have a fairly long bypass, and I had to have antibiotics once since surgery, and they worked as intended. But keep an eye on it; and remember it's better to call the doctor once too many. Make sure you tell them you had a malabsorptive surgery.

I've never had trouble with antibiotics. The meds that don't work as well are extended release formulas - and I seem to remember hearing that certain kind of coatings make some pills harder to absorb, too. I Just always tell the prescribing physician that I've had WLS.

Maybe some DS patients could chime in? We're somewhere between DS'ers and RNY'ers.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
