Peeing after surgery

Recommended Posts

I am post-op day 3. Ever since coming out of recovery, I have been peeing but only in small amounts. The hospital was ok sending me home knowing that, which gives me a little peace of mind. Now at home, I feel like I go about every hour (based on sensation/urgency) and then it’s just kind of a trickle. Hoping it’s just from swelling/pressure in the abdomen and slowly “waking up” my bladder after anesthesia, but wondering if anyone had the same experience, and if so, how long did it last?

Make sure you are fully hydrated, drinking at least 48-64 oz of fluids daily.

I landed back in the ER because I wasn’t fully emptying my bladder. Same deal, only a dribble came out. The problem isn’t not drinking enough.

The problem was the pain medication that I was on. Some pain meds cause problems peeing and pooping. Call your surgeon and ask about this. If you don’t completely empty your bladder you can have problems so don’t ignore it!

I had a catheter put in to get the pee out then switched from a pain medication with opioids to plain Tylenol. All better now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
