  • Popular Post

Hey everyone!

Just had sleeve yesterday morning.

I was a self pay.

first day was the worse than today. I’ve been nauseous ever since I woke from surgery.

it’s hard for me to distinguish from gas pain and nausea. I managed to get 8 oz down yesterday. I threw up the gabapentin immediately. Feeling scared to try anything. My nurse said he’ll have me try the Tylenol at some point.

belly just feel like I worked out my abs, and getting up takes some work.

I’ve walked until I get tired, which a about 5 laps around my room.

today is better than yesterday, but boy does this suck!!!!

And my room freezing.

nothing good today yet, just that today is better.

Feeling worse than yesterday [emoji30]
I came home yesterday and I felt ok for a while. I managed half of a protein water mixed with miralax and a little extra water.
I attempted bone broth, and just typing it makes me want to gag.
today was to be full liquids. I have managed about 24 oz water and maybe a third of a fairlife shake. I also started vitamins today, and good Lord! Those multi vitamin chewables from bariatric advantage didn’t seem as big prior to surgery! My dietitian wanted me taking two of those beasts, I managed 1 and a half.
I feel icky in my tummy all day. I’ve been soooooo sleepy and freezing! I was anemic prior to surgery and got my period early [emoji849] so I’m probably even more so now.
I have been in bed most of the day with the exception of walking to the bathroom, I guess the half a miralax did something. I’m producing watery bright yellow stools, in minimal quantities…I can’t trust a toot. I think the thiamine supplement I was on (and should still be taking, but haven’t been able to) is causing the bright yellow color.
It has been so nice being in my bed.
the abdomen pain isn’t bad, just getting up from lying down is a little painful.

my 5.5 year old boy has been so sweet, bringing me gifts he’s made me.
im going make myself get up now and walk around the house for 5 min.

I might see what Panera’s soup look like, if they qualify as full liquid.

Oh! Also, I was told to take the omeprazole capsule and open it and mix with apple sauce. Is applesauce allowed at this point? Or is it just for taking medication?

aww...i feel for you. But im suprised about the Vitamins, my drs office told me to start 2 weeks after surgery. Yesterday was my 14th day and youre right, the Vitamins look huge prior to surgery. It gets better as time goes, pls rest.
I have finally started stage 3 omg [emoji33] how delicious [emoji1786] 2 ounces of sous vide chicken thighs with 1 once garlic sautéed mash potatoes it nearly took an hour but how delicious [emoji39].

anyone else is just started there 3 stage of soft food???
i had chicken noodle soup but ate to fast and under my ribcage i had sever pain and puked it out. Now im scared.

Praise be, purées, praise be!
i am human again [emoji119]
ok, so last night (so mere hours from purées day), I had about 2 oz of the most delicious mashed potatoes and gravy from Popeyes. My husband was ordering and i said “oooo order me mash and gravy”. I also had 3 tiny pinches of the biscuit. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
And this morning I had 2 oz applesauce. And then for lunch and dinner I had 2 oz of the best grits of my entire life.

i tried a protein water today. Ick! I need to find something
i don’t know how some people don’t want the foods they used to eat. It’s all I think about. It’s a little concerning. I think about stuffing myself with all the food. I miss being able to overeat. Obviously, I want to change otherwise I wouldn’t have had this surgery. But if anyone thinks this is the cure to your food desires, it simply isn’t true. I truly don’t know if I will see the success others do. Time will tell.

the mashed potatoes sat well with you? Im afraid to try it, had RNY on the 1st.
Love this thread! I'm getting excited for my procedure in January I cannot wait. My stomach is sick to death from overeating. I had been doing so great on my diet this summer and now that I'm closer to my date - all I want to do is "eat all the junk that I won't be able to eat later on". Stupid logic.
no worries, your stomach will DEFINITELY punish you, if you attempt to over eat,lol

I have had no issues with any food I’ve tried.
i did canned chicken and Mayo(1oz), butter beans(0.5 oz), and smashed sweet potatoes(0.5oz) today for lunch.

i ate it a little more quick than I had tested the waters with, and it was totally fine.

2 week post op appointment

My last weight prior surgery was 168. That was my weight at the last appointment prior to surgery which was a week before, so it may have been a little more. I say more because I did not do a pre- op diet…at all. I ate all the things up until the day before surgery. I did a liquid diet for 24 hours the day before surgery.

Starting weight: 168 pounds

height: 5 foot (imma meatball)

Self pay, BMI 33.2

2 week post op: 152.8 pounds

down: 15 pounds

When I told my surgeon that I haven’t met (or even have come close to) meeting protein goals, and I haven’t drank a single protein shake. He said “don’t worry about the protein, I don’t really want you drinking protein shakes”. UMMM what?!? I mean, weight lifted because I’m not doing it anyways. He was pleased that I’m staying hydrated with just water, and that I am eating 2oz at a time. I told him I having cravings, and he said have one bite and be done with it. He also told me to start eating fruit. Music to my ears. I feel a lot less stressed about it all. He doesn’t seem super strict, which I don’t know if it’s case by case. Being that i started at a low obese BMI, maybe that has something to Do with it. He also said my hunger is likely to decrease over the next few weeks.

Enough appointment talk. Back to what’s going on with me post op day 15.

I’ve been able to take a mouthful of water and swallow 3-4 times in a row. Still pretty small sips, but I’m no longer using a med cup (haven’t for while) or waiting minutes between.
I am having a hard time slowing down with my meals too. I’m definitely not taking 20 minutes. I find my found myself eating 3 small bites rather quickly, then taking it slower after that.

My vitamins have become a 10 minute ordeal of me almost throwing up. Like my mouth will water like I’m about to puke. I just try really hard not to.

My energy level is pretty good. Considering no caffeine and little protein.

For breakfast I had 1.5oz canned chicken and 0.5 oz banana)

For lunch I had canned Annie’s vegan chili (1oz) and 1oz smashed potatoes, pinch of shredded cheese. It was yum!

feeling good!

Im not a slow eater either and at 16 weeks surgery hasnt changed that but i try. I can drink a reasonable amount of water now and i rarely take my vitamins i think as long as i am are eating a varied diet its ok.all my bloods have come back good so far although I am experiencing hair loss at the moment so i am trying not to stress about that but thats normal so see how it goes.

I had a chat with my dietitian about hair loss after my 1 week post op. She said that if your protein intake is low, regardless if you are taking biotin, it will not work. I’m finishing the liquid stage and I am relying to protein shakes and paleo/keto broths for my protein intake. Idk how will I force myself to eat puréed meat. Maybe holding my nose while chewing it. Eekkkk.
