Severe Nausea and vomiting

Recommended Posts

Hi. This is my first ever post. I had RNY Gastric Bypass on May 19th, so I'm almost 10 weeks post op and I can't eat. Everything smells and tastes so bad, I can't even get it in my mouth without gagging and throwing up. I'm miserable, weak and so depressed because I can't even do anything with my kids. I can hardly keep Water down most of the time, I've talked to my surgeon and they just keep telling me to eat, but I physically can't. Is anyone else dealing with this or has dealt with this? I'm really regretful at this point. I've already lost 70lbs but I'm just not sure that it's worth it at this point, please someone help me.. advice, your story anything, please.

I'm am so sorry you are dealing with this. While i'm only a week out from surgery i stayed in the hospital till today because my nausea and vomiting were so severe. I would think of certain foods and throw up. food aversion is terrible. My Doctor kept me because throwing up severely isn't normal. Did your doctor prescribe nausea meds? Mine work slightly and reduce my vomiting and retching by about 50% so i can stomach somethings. Also, 70lbs is a lot not sure what your starting weight was but still that's a lot of weight if you are at a lower bmi. My suggestion if you are getting any where with your doctor, go to the hospital you could have a stricture or something going on.

I think you need to go back to your surgeon and keep pushing. If you're not even able to keep liquids down that could be a serious issue. Can you talk to the nutritionist? Can you drink Protein Drinks or any other fluids? Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
