I am now 5 months from surgery. I've had horrible food aversions but some of that is easing. I can now eat bacon again. Before, it was disgusting. The same can be said of a few other foods. I'd love to be able to tolerate chicken but it's still off the menu. I am taking tasteless GENEPRO twice a day, 60 grams to keep my protien up and it is giving me some strength back. Also, I've switched to a 1 a day bariatric Vitamin.

Weight loss as of now is 118 pounds and my goal is 210 pounds.

Hope this encourages some who are struggling. Stick with it.

Congrats on your success!

I'm about 7 weeks from surgery. I bought a bunch of foods I thought I wood want, and I just don't enjoy them. Maybe they will still be good when my taste for them returns. My favorite thing to eat now is cottage cheese with canned pineapple. I eat it every day.

Is the GENEPRO unflavored really tasteless? I tried adding a vanilla flavored one (another brand) to my Cream of Wheat, and I couldn't stomach that either.

Congratulations keep up the good work.

I am 3 weeks post surgery, having trouble drinking Water use to love it can't stand it now.

Have not been able to drink my Protein Shakes throw them up. Everything they tell me has no taste I can taste it.

Don't eat to much during day. Always feel full. Already down 20 lbs.

You sound like you are doing great!![emoji106]

I can taste the GENEPRO a little. I put it in one ounce of OJ and 3 ounces of Water and chase it with Decaf tea sweetened with splenda. I got to a point where all I could eat was tuna and never enjoyed it. So, the genepro has been a real help. It can cause Constipation. I got off of it for a few days due to that but immediately went downhill with weakness.

My friend who suggested the genepro puts it in a smotthie with a vanilla protien shake but I'm still averse to the shakes. Can't stand them.

As far as being hungry. I'm not. I'm never hungry but I am thankful there are a few things I am able to eat just for the nutrition. I'm still eating a little tuna but since the bacon flavor has returned I'm really pleased to have it. I eat bacon and lettuce sandwiches on whole wheat bread with no Condiments. Tomatoes still taste off and I loved them like crazy before.

I eat a few mashed potatoes, the Bob Evans kind you get in the store prepared. Green Beans taste good. The wife fixes them with a little butter and onions and cooks them a long time. Most raw fruits and veggies taste OK.

Again, I am never hungry. I haven't been hungry since Feb. 15, the date of my surgery.

I used to drink at least 5 20 ounce bottles of Water a day. It's all I ever drank. It doesn't taste bad now but did in the beginning. I struggle to get the 64 ounces of Fluid but I'm trying.

The taste aversion happens to almost everyone. It's the one thing they're not very forthcoming about before surgery. That's why they stress protien. They don't tell you, "Every bite of meat you put in your mouth after surgery is going to be disgusting." Instead, the dieticians stress protien. So, get it any way you can until your tastes come back.

Enjoy having no hunger. The taste aversion aids weight loss so just eat for nutrition purposes and enjoy the weight loss.

I can handle the Protein Shakes, fortunately. I get 60 grams of my prescribed 60 to 80 from to of the Pure Protein brand shakes. Eight or so more from 3 ounces of cottage cheese. I may still try the GENEPRO to see whether it's palatable mixed in oatmeal.

For me, Water doesn't taste bad, I just can't drink very much at once.

If you add it to oatmeal, add extra Fluid, either Water or milk because it will make it dry and pasty otherwise. I just didn't like it in oatmeal but I think it was the texture. I need to get my wife to make it again but with the extra liquid.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
