Reflux/ heartburn after sipping , please help!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone ,

I just had my surgery yesterday and I’m going through a wave of emotions. I’m relieved and glad that it’s over BUT this reflux pain is out of this world . Every time I take the smallest sip of Water , it goes down my chest fine but once I gets to my stomach then it feels like it’s on FIRE. Therefore, I haven’t been able to eat at all. Honestly, without drinking, it burns in general just sitting here typing . I’ve been walking yesterday evening , through the night and this morning so I’m not even sure if this is just gas. I’m going to pick up my meds but is there any other supplement you all recommend? All answers are appreciated, thank you!

Does your surgeon have you on a PPI medication? Mine has me on one for 2 months minimum… I have had no reflux issues

Yes, they gave me a PPI medication but it still isn’t working . When I explained the level of pain from the reflux, they told me it was normal . I already had GERD prior to my surgery where I would get this pain once every 2-3 months but my surgeon said he didn’t think it was often enough to switch to bypass. However, I’ve read that Gerd can worsen on some sleeve patients so I’m paranoid .

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
