New pain and bloating 3 weeks post op VSG

I’m 2 and a half weeks post op from my vsg and everything’s been going well. I didn’t have any pain or other complications but today is my 2nd day of purée. I only managed to get some eggs down but didn’t have any issues. A few hours later I started noticing tenderness around the right side of my stomach and now it’s actually starting to hurt even if I barely touch it. I also notice it’s starting to look swollen just on that side. I don’t want to panic but has anyone else had this or should I go to the ER if it continues?

Wishing you all the best with your appointment tomorrow!!

  • Than you

  • How did they know is was a popped stitch??? Did you get some kind of study done to determine it was exactly that? Just curious, and also very happy it has been resolved.

What did it turn out to be? I’m 3 weeks post op and having new pain and soreness that I didn’t have before. I’m on 5th day of soft foods.

Luckily it was nothing. All my labs were normal and I haven’t had any issues since then!! I hope your pain and soreness goes away soon as well?
I can tell you I started with horrible cramps and pain in my abdomen, however is comes and goes. I see my surgeon tomorrow, hopefully we can work this out

How did yours turn out? You okay?

Yes, it resolved in about 4 days and I'm feeling great now. I talked to the nurse practitioner from my clinic and she said it was an internal popped stitch. It can be common if you do too much too soon.

No study done, In the largest incision, there was a pucker that it now gone. The NP determined this based on the location of my pain and when the pain increased. This was all done over the phone. I did have a follow up appt with her a week after we spoke on the phone and by then the pain was gone.

Glad to hear that you are ok
