Pain 3 weeks out on purée phase

Recommended Posts

I had my endoscopic sleeve on 5/25. The only pain I felt was the day of and day after surgery. I felt literally no pain the next two weeks on liquids. I was switched to purée after the 2 weeks and my stomach has pain. It’s mostly when I move in certain ways but it was a little scary since I had felt great the first 2 weeks. Has anyone experienced this? I went back to liquids just in case my body was in shock from the switch to more solid foods but it hasn’t changed. Thoughts/advice? I’m new to the forum as well, it’s nice to “meet” you all and have a community of those going through the same thing.

I am about 3.5 weeks out and just moved to the soft food stage this past Thursday and had an incident yesterday where I felt a sorta pain from my stomach area that went through to my back. The only thing I had eaten previous to it, and hours earlier, was chili w/beans (which I'm allowed). I had eaten it before with no issue but this time I guess it didn't sit right or something. Anyway I kind of took my hand and shook my stomach slightly and walked around, drank some Water then a few minutes later I heard gurgling/rumbling from my stomach and intestinal area and started burping and soon after the pain was gone. I assumed afterwards that it had been gas. Which is weird cause prior to surgery I never experienced gas in my stomach. Maybe you are having a similar issue?

Sometimes it’s just your tummy healing & the twinges, spasms, discomfort, etc. are the signs. (It does takes a while for your insides to heal after the surgery.) Some surgeons use an internal anchoring stitch & that can pull at times too.

Eating too quickly, swallowing air as you eat or sip can cause discomfort too. Your purées may be a little too thick for your healing tummy to handle yet. Some people just need longer to move through the stages & have to treat their tummies a little more gently.

But if the pain persists or gets worse contact your surgeon. You can also call them now - just to make sure.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
