Update on Surgery I had on July 19th.Not going to lie I was in so much gas pain and anything I drank burned going down..Was mostly on Morphine and anti nauseous medication ohh and sleeping.. Second day was easier. Was walking around, drinking more fluids and releasing the gas..I'm really thirsty but ill take it day by day. I was told my the team of doctors that it's best to have Decaf tea, Water and brooth until I slowly bring back the shakes.

Just take it easy, had mine on 6 July and it took tell today to get on foods. Thirsty is an understatement! Drink and yes after surgery it did burn going down

Right now my hubby and kids (I have older kids) are taking care of their own meals until I am cleared to eat a regular diet. I am nervous about when I will need to start cooking family meals again. Anyone have any tips on cooking for a family and yourself?

Hi Bluebonnet

i have actually been cooking my partner and sons dinners for the past 3 days, I find it strangely therapeutic, because although it looks and smells amazing and I would love to eat it, because I’m not hungry it’s not bothering me as much.
If am feeling too tired to cook they will take over.
🙂

Totally feel you! I was so thirsty for days! Especially as I couldn’t hold anything for down for two days and just vomited!
Now for some reason I can no longer drink just Water, it doesn’t stay down. I need to drink juice, or ice tea. But I’m managing about 1000ml of water a day at the moment. The struggle is with Protein Shakes and Soups, as I get full so quickly.
it really does get easier though as the days go on I promise. 👍🏻❤️

Highest known weight: 218

Current Weight: 193.2
Inch loss: I’m actually waiting for a new tape measurer because somehow the current one is telling me I gained more than when I was 218. Makes no sense .

Thanks for asking this, as I am also worried about when I have to make food for my family & possibly something different for me. I would love to hear what others have done or what they plan on trying.

To get through the first 2 weeks after my surgery, I started cooking double size dinners & put half in freezer for my family to eat later. I think I may continue to do this when I cook, to cut down on some cooking time.

During the soft food stage, I will try to use the crock pot & instant pot to make meats (& veggies) cooked in broth, like stews, etc. That way we can all eat it.

When my family is having Pasta with meat sauce, I will try to use turkey instead of beef for all of us, and make spiral zucchini for me.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. I have been making my husband and daughter dinner every night and find it easy to do. Although I want to eat it it helps me learn to control my eating. My husband has offered to make them dinner so I don’t have to cook but I want them to have healthy meals and not just hotdogs and chicken strips (which I just tossed out) lol.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
